I just tried Oxycodone for the first time (and simultaneously also popped my strong opioid cherry, having previously only tried codeine and tramadol) - I took a 40mg OxyContin orally, crushing half of it to bits and swallowing the other half. I had a great time, and felt waves of euphoria, but now that I reflect I notice that while it was obviously far stronger than tramadol, it wasn't quite what I expected it to be, and I can think of a few reasons for that.
Just to be clear - I am not asking whether these will have affected the experience; I am asking how much.
- I took 15mg Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine) a little before the Oxy. I didn't even know I'd be getting OCs, otherwise I wouldn't have taken the speed.
- I had taken quite a bit of alcohol, also mostly prior to the OCs - not enough to get me drunk, but tipsy, definitely, and for thirst-quenching purposes I downed one more beer after the OC.
- I was at a concert and moving about.
I was a little alarmed by the (admittedly very brief and occasional) feelings of nausea and hot flushes, and I wondered if considering the strength of the side effects, the principal effects should have been more pronounced too. I know alcohol obviously adds to the unpleasant side effects, but to what extent (if any) does it detract from the opioid feel? Alcohol has always potentiated codeine and tramadol for me, but then again they're much weaker so they actually need potentiation, and I've heard of many people reporting that alcohol reduces the euphoria they feel on strong opioids. As for the amphetamine, I can understand it probably counteracted the sedation and need to nod off, but how much is that connected to the pleasurable effects? And finally, how much stronger or more evident are the effects of oxycodone if lying down stationary, as opposed to moving around?
I need some kind of indication as to whether next time I need to take more, or just be better prepared (ie. not already buzzing on God knows what) and lying down eyes closed instead of dicking about.
