My friend and I are going to be splitting an 80 mg oxycodone pill. Since our tolerance is around 20-25 mg's, could we break the pill up into powder and then weigh out 20 mg for each of us? We have a very accurate mg scale. Will one of us ingest more acetaminophen/binder while the other gets more opiate? If it does not have acetaminophen, will that change anything?

I'm sure I just broke some obscure rule, forgive me.

Thanks in advance guys.

You are going to have to do a bit of math because the 80mg pill has some binders in it, so it weighs more than 80mg. A simple proportion will help you figure out the weight of a 20-25mg dose. I would just aim for a 20mg dose, and just weight the whole pill and then take a 1/4 of that weight as the 20mgs.

An 80mg OxyContin pill should not have any acetaminophen in it, although it will have some fillers and binders. Also, I believe that the oxycodone will be evenly distributed in the pill.

Good call. I never would have thought of that. My main worry was the acetaminophen, had the pill contained some it would have made out the majority.
