Opioids Oxy - red and puffy eyes

Hi all,

Let me paint an example scenario.

5 x 20mg oxycodone slow release crushed up
That is taken once in the AM and again in the PM, so 200mg total in 24 hours.

I repeat the above day for 3 days.

By the 3rd day the skin around my eyes are noticeably red, puffy and "loose". Like there's fluid in the thin skin below my eyes, yet the skin to the side of my eyes where "crows feet" appear as you age have significant wrinkles.

On top of all of that, my eyes are weeping. A opaque, off-white / yellow-ish gel.

Can someone advise what causes this, what it is and how to prevent it? I've tried taking antihistamines before, during and after dosing as well as taking NSAIDs.

It seems to happen more with the crushed up slow release oxycodone (UK based "OxyPro" branded, but equivalent of OxyContin without the anti-abuse stuff in it), although I think it happens to a lesser extent with the instant release "OxyNorm" too. Harder to gauge as I only get 28 x 5mg capsules every two weeks.

Would love to know what causes this. Note that this is all outside of the eyeball itself, I'm not talking about bloodshot eyes or dialated pupils etc.

Thanks,

Steve
