Hi i guess ill start by saying i have never posted on a forum ever only read through things after searching in google well here i go i guess i have been taking oxy for about 5 years my mom is sick and she was and still is on them and would let me try well i made up a stomach problem to doctors to get my script and then ended up developing a bad stomach problem so i actually needed them lol well im better now but still getting high legally but not that i see a diff well anyway i have been on the edge of wanting to withdraw for a few months now maybe im a pussy i dont know but whenever i try i dont make it past the first day i hate the feeling of not feeling normal like something is off inside my body now i know a dcent amount of information about withdrawls and programs meds etc etc i like to read up on stuff but to my topic

I take Oxycontin 15 or 30 mg IR either 10 or 5 depends on which each day deff my drug of choice and when my script is done i will take my extended release prob 150 mg each day i dont like the Er that much but they are my last resort but it occured to me every time i try to detox if i try while on the IR it is not as bad compared to the ER so i was wondering if anyone else agrees has any information or person exp and i was thinking maybe the WD symptoms from and IR might be less mg to mg of the er since it is not long acting so do you guys/girls think it would be better for me to try to taper down with my IR to stop or with my ER

Whether you are taking IR or ER is pretty much moot as an IR taken multiple times spread out equals an ER. That being said I'd guess the more spread out your actual uptake of drugs in your body the easier the withdrawal (arguably) so one or the other could help depending on how you are trying to get clean. Mainly taper versus turkey that is.

I'm going to send this over to Other Drugs (OD) for you. Be sure you check out the OD Directory linked in my signature and especially the Opioid Withdrawal Megathread contained within.

I agree, taking IR's throughout the day = one ER. I really doubt there is going to be much difference in the withdrawal. If anything I imagine the IR might be worse b/c you get more of the drug at once and metabolize through fairly quickly, whereas the ER may offer something of a taper. But that's purely speculation, and I doubt you'll notice a difference when the w/d symptoms kick in.

By the way, you've been using for quite some time. I'm not a doctor (yet), but I encourage you to seek out Suboxone/Subutex maintenance therapy if you're trying to quit.

Thanks a lot for to both of you ^^ and i will deff check out those threads still learning how to navigate this site and yea i have been on them for so much longer then i would like to have been as well as tons of other drugs including chemo and steroids and i have thought about the suboxone route but right now i have my stomach under control and since i have to go into full WD's before i can take Sub's it will end up triggering my stomach issues which ends up putting me in extreme pain which puts me back on the pills as well as back in hospital getting my stomach back under controll and back on higher dosages of my steroids and other meds thats why i need to find out ways where there can be minimal wd symptoms well physcial symptoms mental does not matter i was thinking weisman method deff spelled wrong sorry but thats soo a lot of money for somehting that i have heard mixed reviews on

Here on bluelight we have a number of threads regarding opiate withdrawal and detox. Using the search engine you should be able to find numerous threads that can help you get thru the withdrawals as comfortably as possible. With opiate addiction there is no free lunch, and no free way out. It isn't going to be pain free and you have to accept that, but there are many ways to minimize the suffering.

If you cannot handle going cold turkey, your options are pretty limited. Tapering slowly would be your best bet, and since you have a supply of both IR and ER oxycodone it should be doable. If you tell us your exact daily dosage it will be easier for us to help you write up a tapering schedule. If you are serious about this, you should write up a tapering schedule and have someone you trust hold onto your meds, and hand them out to you according to the schedule. You've been on them for a long time so I would do a rather slow taper, over at least a month or two.

Also, you should look into using suboxone instead which personally I think would be a better option, as if you are tapering with oxy you will be more tempted to take some extra which would screw up your taper.

Doing a short taper with suboxone to get thru the detox from oxycodone would be the best option in my opinion. Use suboxone for no more than a week or so, to get the oxy out of your system but not be taking suboxone for long enough to have to detox from that. There are also plenty of OTC and prescription comfort meds you can obtain to make it much easier.

Also, there is nothing wrong with seeking professional help. If you are prescribed all this oxy, you should tell your doctor you want to get off of them and have him help you taper off them or refer you to a doctor who deals with these issues.

Whatever you choose, good luck to you.
