oxy-anti-depressant?

[EDIT - I find OxyContin with a fair deal of ease, I also pay low prices for the 80mg tablets]

Hell, antidepressants aren't some weird pharmaceutical scam. They do work, though not much better that therapy (CBT usually). Of course it's a lot cheaper and easier to take a pill than it is to see a therapist and work through your problems... and therapy+antidepressant is quite effective.
You would be shocked at how cheap opioids REALLY are. Even now, your hospital pays about 50 cents for 20mg of morphine -- a good bag of heroin. And that's for injectable, medical grade solution.
Now maybe if everyone could get opioids this cheap, they might be a good move for some. But the vast majority of people who go this route now are gonna screw themselves over with it...

I have been on and off anti-depressants since I was about 10 years old... from a low dose of Elivil to Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Tofrinil, and a number of others I dont remember - we played with the doses, gave it time, included counseling with the psychitrist once a month - I said fuck it when I was about 16, I felt fine off the meds, then, a year later I discovered MDMA .. well, wouldn't ya know it but the depression returned a few years ago - again, we plad the "lets write prescriptions as fast as possible" game with several psychitrists - this time I don't need to "talk about my feelings", I need something to life my spirits, allow me to sleep, and help make my day-to-day life better...
Well, now knowing about my option of independent self-medication, I was a little more agressive in my search for a good anti-d through "legit" channels... when that failed I turned to opioids and I wouldn't give it up for the world... I mean that, THE WORLD, like say if I continued using opioids then the entire worlds population would die - fine, you can all be dead as long as I have my opioids ...
If anyone wants to talk specifics I will but I am so tired I keep falling asleep as I type this...

Well, you know yourself best, Phreex. Obviously I can't comment on your depression and what is effective for it!
But I do hope that anyone else reading this thread takes as much care as you say you have in trying legitimate antidepressants and therapy! The majority of depressed patients can cure or significantly alleviate their depression, safely, with these things. The vast majority of those who turn to opioids as the answer to their depression do, unfortunately, end up years later still depressed but also with a nasty, expensive opioid habit to deal with.
Care all,
Zorn

yeah i also agree that OPIATES do NOT cure my problems!!i have never taken them for the sole reason of "escaping" my problems..i simply take them to feel good, and to rid myself of some nagging pain..i have several friends who would have a bad day and take boatloads of opiates, and i always thought they were so fucking stupid for doing so..
yep, when someone takes drugs for an escape from there problems, they need to re-evaluate everything, and find another method of eliminating there problems, cuz if they dont, they are in for a rough haul..
also, i think OPIATES are rather expensive drugs, especially if you are taking a good dose every few hours..shit, i know people who pay $1/mg for OXY and they have to take at least 30 mgs every 4 hours!!i dont know how they afford it..people with "good" connections either have a script for them, or they go to mexico themself..

I'm reading through this thread and I keep seeing some mildly disturbing comments and remarks.
The first thing that is getting to me is the numerous remarks concerning how expensive opiates are.
Using opiates as anti-depressants is not using opiates to get blasted. This means you're not trying to match your best friend's 160mg a day Oxy habit.
You're not trying to get high. You shouldn't have a preexisting tolerance. This means you're taking maybe 15mgs of oxycodone at most to enhance your mood.
If you're doing this for fun, don't even waste your time. You're just going to undoubtedly take higher and higher doses and become a pharm junkie making up excuses for yourself to get high.
It's not something you're going to take daily. You're going to take it on days you need a kick in the ass.
And I know I'm really going to be hated for saying this one, but have any of you honestly looked at your other drug use as possibly having links to your depression?
Believe it or not, drug abuse and depression are generally synonomous with each other. Sure, a lot of times you can never really be sure which came first, the chicken or the egg, the depression or the drugs. And probably more of you can say the depression was first. But think about the fact you're playing with your brains chemistry reguardless of what types of drugs you're taking. There's a pretty good chance that what you're taking, even if only restricted to weekends or whatever, is playing a role in your depression.
Anyways, I have to hear this shit from my girlfriend all the time, so now I'm taking it out on you guys.

well, from most of the people I KNOW that take OPIATES on a regular basis, the drugs are EXPENSIVE!!yeah, sure, maybe theres a few of us who get 80 mg OC's for $10 :) , but the majority of people who take PHARM OPIATES pay out their ass for them!!i see people regularly pay $1/mg for OXY, $5 for a 5.5 mg VICODEN tablet, and $100 for a 10 cc vial of NUBAIN...the list goes on and on, but ya get my point..
