oxazepam making me worse?

I changed from diazepam 5mg to oxazepam. That was almost 5 days ago. I wanted to change to ox coz I thought it was "lighter". It isn't working, I feel so depressed and anxious. I've experienced diazepam withdrawals lots of times, it definitely isn't that. I took about 60mg of oxazepam and it doesn't even do anything! Just makes me tired but then I can't stay asleep. I'm sure I'm experiencing paradoxical side effects. Maybe it doesn't go well with the lamotrigine and venlafaxine. I'm getting the Dr to give me the diazepam rather. I hope he phones soon.

I think you'll find that the consensus regarding oxazepam is that it's a weak benzodiazepine. From my experience with it, it was about as potent as chlorodiazepoxide (librium). Switching back to diazepam will most likely resolve your issues.

Oxazepam is a metabolite of Diazepam - which is probably why most people don't like/feel odd on it .... you're not receiving all the same metabolites (and hence effects) one gets from Diazepam (desmethyldiazepam [also known as nordazepam or nordiazepam], temazepam and oxazepam). It is supposedly less addictive (because of this).

As baooozs said, switching back to Diazepam will fix this (60mg Oxaze is a high dose!). Go back and see your GP and speak him about this/your worries. There's always alternatives!

yes oxazepam is shit , 200 mg a day did diddly squat towards relieving wd's symptoms from phenibut. Like i'd relax me for 1 hour but that was about it

actually oxazepam 60 mg isn't that high they come in 50 mg pills over here.


also nor-diazepam is the metabolite of diazepam , diazepam is an active compound and not the same as desmethyldiazepam.

I find oxazepam to be, well, worthless, personally......
