Benzos Oxazepam-any useful applications?

I have used several benzos for stress, social anxiety, flight phobia and insomnia over time. Last week I rushed into a different doctor as my other doc was fully booked. I had a long flight the next day. I told this doc alprazolam works well for my flight phopiba as dose diazepam, but that i DO not like diazepam for its long effects. He said he definitely cannot give me Xanax or Valium and gave meOxazepam. Dear me....it did not work at all.....i had a bad time to say the least. IT sort of came on after 3 hours and didnt last long. Is this usual and has anybody got any other thoughts on Ocxazepam? I even took 60mg, and usually I would only need 1.5m alprazolam or 10-15mg diazepam for a flight. My conclusion was Oxazepam sucks and has no real medical value or application. Anybody concur?

It's a weak benzo. 25 mg of oxazepam = 10 mg of diazepam.

It's good for mild-moderate anxiety and alcohol withdrawal. It is the most slowly absorbed benzo of all and it usually doesn't kick in until over an hour, sometimes up to 2 hours. It peaks around the 4th or 5th hour.

That has nothing to do with it, as he used regular therapeutic doses of Xanax and Valium.

Oxazepam's pharmokinetics had to do with it. It is the most slowly absorbed benzo and it has the weak/moderate amnesic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, hypnotic, sedative and skeletal muscle relaxant properties compared to other benzodiazepines.

Yea im not a fan either it takes too long to kick in and the effects are minimal

I'm quite familiar with Oxazepam, I find it giving me no "benzo high"(not like diazepam, lormetazepam, midazolam, etc etc...)) but it works well for anxiety. So, no good for recreational purpose, good for intented puposes (relief of anxiety).

I think you were just excepecting a high, and since it didn't come it gave you some anxiety 'why am I noy high yet, did I dose enough... so the oxazepam didn't work well.

Yup, asking for a specific med to a doctor (that you don't even know) is the best way not to get said meds... =/

Here thy often this med to a drama queens who like to think there is something wrong with them and burst out crying or throwing things and then they get an instant placebo effect because they are on benzos may god help them.

Also the only thing prescibed for people under 25 for many counties here even if they actually need for some stronger benzo with faster onset. Shame on our public healthcare on that but a big plus if you are having benzos for over 12 weeks you need to get in therapy.

30mgs doesnt even make me feel like 10mgs of Valium, But then I have a peculiar disposition to Valium....really hits me hard, even harder than the equivalent Xanax dosages would, i.e. 2mg of Xanax to me is roughly like 10-15mg of Valium.

I do mostly opt for therapeutic dosages, but have on 2 occasions gone above (50mg of Valium, and 50mg of temazepam). I do NOT recommend anybody use Valium at these dosages due to Amnesia, shitty feel and long Half-life. For recreational purposes Xanax would have to be safer, cleaner and just simpler to handle.

Re my flight this week back, I'll probably just take 60-90mgs of these Oxazepammies 2 hours before the flight. Perhaps 60mgs 2 hours before and then 30mgs with bums on seat as to avoid mysteriously nodding off in the transit lounge. (which i doubt as this med is seriously WEAK)

I always fear being in an aluminium tube that goes 900km/h on 10km height which I cant control and seriously need alprazolam.
