I recently overdosed from xanax & heroin, I didnt wake up for 16 hours until someone found me.

Ever since that happened my right side has been slightly numb and painful, causing me to walk with a limp. Its been about 2 weeks since that happened.

I am just wondering if this could be permanent damage from laying on my side for too long, maybe I cut off the circulation for too long? Or maybe I am just being paranoid.

Hi OP, I had to change your post and edit the word "swim" out as we don't use swim on BL.

Have you been to a doctor about this? When you say right side is it the right side of your stomach? I believe that for a proper diagnosis, you should go to a doctor and get a check up and do further testing. I hope you feel better OP and please don't do it again.

to answer your question YES. It could very much so be permanent nerve damage. You need to see a nuerologist and quickly as your condition could progress. This same situation happened to a friend of mine where he od'd on his side and was there for a similar anount of time. He was laying on his arm. He lost the ability to move his hand from the wrist down (due to paralyzation) from nerve damage. He only had a 5% chance of recovery but did end up gaining about 80% of function back after 5 years or so...
moral of the story- see a nuerologist asap. BTW this friend of mine got heavy heavy opiod prescriptions for his condition (400+mg oxycodone a day w/ over 40+mg oxymorphone a day, swapped to fentanyl patches eventually)
so good can come with the bad my friend.

Hello, this same thing happened to me last year, except when i woke up my right leg was TOTALLY numb, just dead weight. I was scared it was paralyzed and went to ER, who did many mris and poked my leg w needles becauae didnt believe me. Ended up going to a neurologist who did nerve tests and the position i laid in, i was on a wood floor, the bone was putting too much pressure on my peroneal nerve and damaged it. I couldnt even walk with it for two weeks. Then i had to use a cane for months, and go to physical therapy for two months. When the nerve started to heal it was the most excruciating pain ive ever felt, the pain would wake me up screaming and crying, this weird cramping sensation. It took over six months for me to walk normal again, and i was afraid itd be like that forever. I walked with a limp for almost nine months and to this day my skin is still numb along my upper thigh. It will heal but phys therapy helps.

I could not shower on my own i have a stand up shower w a big ledge and had to have friend lift me up into the shower and i just sat down in it then they had to lift me out of it. I could not drive for many months then learned to drive using my left foot, had to be carried lots of places the first few weeks and got around by hopping on my left foot and holding onto walls and counters. Totally took away my independence, be grateful for your appendages you dont realize how important they are til you lose them. I sat and cried thinking this was my life forever, but like i said phys therapy and time healed it.

I had this happen a few times. One time I couldn't feel my toes for about two weeks but after that it went back to normal.

Always try to sit before you shoot. (pref with legs stretched out..)

hope things improve..

it sounds like you had a stroke or something similar while you were out. this happened to a buddy of mine. he was 55 and OD'd on xanax and heroin. he was out approx. 8-9 hours but while he was out he had a stroke and some brain damage. he had slight paralysis on his right side and he was extremely confused for weeks afterwards.

this was his 1st OD...he would OD 2 more times within the year. the third one was just too much on him and he died on his kitchen floor, all by himself. he was a life long addict and still lived with his mother, who has cancer. she was in the hospital at the time of his death and someone had to tell her. she could not leave the hospital for the funeral and they had to bring his ashes to her....

please take this incident as a "get out of death almost free" card and stay away from the stuff. nothing good ever comes from heroin addiction

edit: also, as the majority have said, see a doctor, preferably a neurologist, asap.

I damaged the nerve in my wrist i think its called a Radial nerve, when i fell asleep on Valium and booze. Took over a month to get it working properly again.

I guess OP isnt gonna reply like 3/4 of new posters do the same. anyways, OP, please go see a doc. It can and will save you trouble in the future. Don't fuck around with your life like that cuz it could end at any second just like it almopst did when you OD'ed that night using one of the most dangerous combos out there, Xanax and Heroin. Be more careful in the future please.

Sounds like nerve damage I had a friend go out on his arms and he lost use of both of them for nearly six months they shriveled all up it was pitiful and on top of it he was a heavy iv heroin addict and could no longer fix himself....of course I helped him.

sorry ive been really busy getting brain scans and seeing my neuro.

I damaged my perennial nerve, my leg is numb and i have severe foot drop.

i hope to god its not permanent i dont wanna walk like this forever.

I forgot to add they gave me a 60 count script of Lyrica 75mg (Pregabalin), its for the nerve pain, and a 30 count script of 30mg Oxycodone.

Haven't read the thread, but I did this on nitrazepam and smack.

Think I was there for almost a couple of days. I woke up unable to stand up properly when I came round, had lost about 75% of my eyesight, 75% of my hearing, was numb all down one side, had open wounds on various parts of my body where the flesh was dying, couldn't lift arms above chest height and gone in to rabdomyolisis. Pretty much back to normal five years down the line though, in fact most of it was sorted in a few days other than the numbness.

I allso gouched on my arm oonce and got radial nerve palsy. Lower arm and hand was praralysed for about six weeks. I was just coming to terms with the fact I was going to be like that forever when it started to improve and is back to normal now.

Definitely seek professional advice, but the upshot is you will most likely be fine a month or so down the line.:) Docs though dude, do it.

Hey bleezy i dont know if you read my post above but i damaged the exact same nerve in my right leg about a year and a half ago-the peraneal is the big one running from thigh to foot. I also had foot drop and had to drag my foot for a while because it wouldnt lift up i was walking with a swinging gait.

Just wanted to let you know ITS NOT PERMANENT. it takes a few months to heal because nerves are very slow to heal but exercise it as much as you can and get around with a cane. Progress will be very slow-but eventually youll notice your foot will be raising more and slowly gain more feeling. Along with that for me came excruciatingly painful cramps which my doc told me were nerves rewiring.

Only bad thing is its been a year and a half and the skin on my foots still numb. But other than that its back to normal!! Good luck!! Also be honest w the docs about falling asleep on it- you dont have to say it was due to an OD but let them know you were exhausted and fell asleep in a weird position-it will help them to treat you better. I lied to my docs at first and it just hindered them helping me.

It can be permanent in rare cases.

Also, start rocking the verbal cint look.

I did seek professional advice, I found a good neuro and i got a brain scan to see if i had a seizure that caused permanent damage.
