Can you overdose on oxy/heroin if you're not nodding out, but you feeling you're breathing is shallow. A few times I have felt my breathing was almost at nothing but I didn't overdose obviously. Can you only overdose if your uncontrollavkg=t

I believe you would experience somnolence before an overdose would occur, but I could also imagine an overdose could occur without it. I think that might be unlikely though.

I've seen this happen with oxycodone at least - respiration becomes severely depressed which induces a sensation of panic and increased heart rate, cutting through the sedative effects. Heroin may be too sedating for this to occur as readily, however I'm not certain.

It is possible with oxy I beleave.. Don't know about heroin as I've never really messed with it that much.. Tollerance plays a role here tho I'm sure..

One time i came really close to overdosing on heroin, almost immediately after doing a shot i went unconscious for a minute or so and my girlfriend managed to wake me up but i have no memory of it so i wasn't just nodding. After she snapped me out of it i felt like shit all day and didn't nod whatsoever.

ive seen a few friends OD from heroin and usually there pretty wasted before they pass out and start to turn blueish color, also inc shallow breaths... hope tht helps! ;)

Ok, I just believe that the lack of breathing is causing my anxiety, which it makes it feel like I can't breathe. Anytime I felt like I really couldn't breathe, I was also nodding out. I have a question, sometimes when I feel like I can't breathe I take one or two sudafed nasal decongestant. It seems to work, I have read then when you take potentiators like benadryl and robitussin it also suppresses your breathing and that a nasal decongestant is required to balance it out.

Is there anything else I could take to increase breathing put higher my dose. I used to not care, but after seeing many people die and overdose and almost myself I am more self aware. Or is it the fact that you aren't breathing that makes you nod out?

Nasal Decongestants?

Does taking one or two sudafed nasal decongestants (or any other ND) help reverse some of the respiratory depression.

Sometimes I feel like I can't breathe if I take a high dose of Oxy or do a lot of H, even if I am not nodding out, I contribute this to paranoia and anxiety because I have come to the conclusion that it is in my head, because the majority of forum members and from my past experiences show that you are way more likely to OD when you are nodding hard. What exactly makes you nod out? Is it the lack of oxygen, I don't think so.

Nodding is just the 'high' you get from that sort of dose. I'm not sure if an ND would increase respiratory rate though. When i was using opiates i would just make sure i was always conscious of my breathing to make sure it didn't get too slow. The respiratory depression is most likely caused by your CNS being extremely depressed and slow, so automatic breathing is slow; But that doesn't mean you can't control conscious breathing. Does anybody know if this is correct? I know you can counter act respiratory depression by consciously keeping an eye on it, but this is difficult to do while nodding out. Is it the CNS depression that causes respiratory depression in the first place though? I've never actually looked up what causes it.

Though since I'm conscious of this i would always get horrible anxiety when i got close to nodding out, and pretty much conditioned my brain to the point where i couldn't nod because my anxiety would increase my heart rate enough to make it impossible.

Since your questions here are so closely related to the questions in your last thread, I'm going to merge the two together.

In the future, please just continue the relevant discussion in one thread instead of starting a new one.

OK i figured I would more lucky by making a new thread, and currently I am trying to get some more breath going atm, if it gets really bad I stand up.

Anyone have any tips it's pretty important at the moment

By any chance does it feel like you want/need to take a deeper breath but you can't go as deep as you'd like to?

Yea but just a little maybe 3/4 of the normal maybe a little less than that. I have had it where its been like 20 percent and a friend OD on the same stuff that I did

^This might be useful if its what you're experiencing.

When I was using a lot of morphine, I had this problem. I felt like I needed to breathe deeper but I couldn't and so I kept trying, getting more anxious, trying to breathe deeper and all this just exacerbated the problem.

If this is what you're experiencing, you want to take your mind off it and stop trying to breathe too deeply. Force yourself to NOT breathe too deeply as this just further irritates your lungs/esophagus further restricting your ability to breathe in deeply.

Thank you I definitely suffer from that, its weird one minute i'll be fine the next i'm having problems. I have been trying to inject into a vein, but I am having issues. First, how are u supposed to put it in and draw back to see blood all with one hand, thats my main issue. Also, I heard you're supposed to go into a angle almost flat (parallel) to the arm, please confirm if this is true.

^check out the directory and search engine and you'll find EVERYTHING you need to know about injecting. I usually hear (at least if you're hitting your forearms/crook of your arm) that you can go in up to about a 45 degree angle or so. I am not an IV user though so all of my understanding of the subject is second-hand.

The directory (at the top of the forum) is a great place to start. Also, click the search tab all the way at the top and then go to 'advanced search'. Play around with the search options (such as searching 'titles only') and you can find more than you ever imagined.

We try to keep individual threads on topic so information is easier to locate so it'd be better if you don't discuss that in here. I wouldn't start another thread for these questions because its been discussed quite a bit. If you can't find information you're looking for and its a rather basic question, feel free to post in the BDD forum.

edit: I just typed up this big thing, but cane beat me to the punch with where the information is located and i had this big post explaining how to do it right typed out but i read it back to myself and it was quite confusing. Just read the information in the OD directory and try looking up a video on youtube or something that demonstrates the proper technique. I do wish you had someone to show you in person. :\

I try. ;)

I do hope this guy figures out proper technique. IVing on your own without anyone to show you how or be there when you do it is a horrible idea.
