I haven't used fertilizer in my plants and they each grew to about 5g-7g per plant dried out while a buddy not very far away grew at least 1oz dried per plant with fertilizer. He mentioned bat shit as one of them.

Is it possible for fertilizer to have that much of an effect on plant growth?

When do you plant/mix the fertilizer in with the plant?

i have had much success with horse poop. it was well aged though, from a big pile on a farm.

i know if you are using any sort of decaying organic fertilizer like manure you have to let it sit for a month or two before using it. marijuana is sensitive and the fresh ferts are waay too strong and harsh.

i usually mix manure and worm castings with soil about 2 months or even a year before planting.

ocean forest soil Fox farms 1gallon of soil per foot you intend. Yes this means digging a deep trench(5gallon) out doors and for this youll need a shovel unless you intend to macho man that shit & use your hands & nail.

it sure can, though it really depends on your soil - plants need nutrients to grow you know ;). if your soil is poor it'll be lacking in Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium (known as N - P - K ), Calcium , Sulfur. Magnes., and other necessary trace elements. Your plants will have to be fed every week or two to compensate. high N-P-K ferts like seaweed extract, organic blood and bone, concentrated fish extract all work well. worm casings are fantastic....get a worm farm going, add your kitchen scraps etc and let the worms do the work for ya.

first off, it's best to prepare your soil before you plant. add well weathered manure (horse, chicken, duck, cow , bat etc etc work well) a month before you plant and don't forget to mulch...compost is good!
you can start feeding the plants when they are seedlings. start by giving them a weak dilution of N-P-K fertilizer ...you don't want to overfeed them in your eagerness either. increase concentration as the plants grow.

another method of feeding plants is spraying the diluted liquid NPK fertilizer on their leaves (foliar feeding). the plant absorbs the nutrients that way.

when the plant kicks into it's flowering stage, you want to decrease the nitrogen and increase phosphorus and potassium to increase the flower yields.

Bat shit. If you know of a cave nearby. Hell, they probably have it at your local plant store. %)

Be very careful to not breath the stuff in. Use a facemask and latex gloves when collecting it and spreading it.

^ The bat cave, duh. Bruce is gonna get pissed at u again..

his plants were probably 2-3ft and yours 1?

I'll give you some advice I've learnt. Won't say this is the best method, but it sure as hell cuts out a lot of work and has been known to give some great results.

This lead to my plants being 5ft, about 3 months before the FLOWERING PERIOD. Granted, this was in Aus, where our flowering period is huge. I did this on my first grow (possums ate them before they got to 6ft :(). Leaving as much time as possible between the time you do this and when you start to grow. Go and buy yourself some fish, rotten fish, straight out of the water it doesn't really matter. Dig your hole in your grow spot, Shove your fish in this hole, spacing them with a bit of dirt. Leave it for as long as possible.

It'll rot and leave you with very beautiful soil. I've heard of people growing 15-20ft plants from this method but using a sheep carcass instead.

Then once your plants are about 3-4 foot, starting using some Fish Emulsifier, you don't want it at full strength, about half strength is great. Don't water your plant with Fish Emulsifier anytime near when you harvest or you'll be punching cones that taste like fish 8). A week before you harvest, flush them with water, like every few days give them 2-3 times the water you usually would. This'll wash any of the chemicals out of the plant that were in there before and apparently it makes the buds swell (not sure if that one is true).

The last step, grab one of your cured, potent buds and mail them to me =D

One of the best all-round organic nutes is chicken shit (composted). Contains the right ratio's of NPK for a whole grow. Bat guano is a great source of P (& mg) , but no so much for N or K, you'd have to add additional amendments in outside where the cycle is longer (bat guano is great for the shorter indoor cycles). For guerilla projects use chicken shit, cheap & easy and you won't have critters digging it up in search for a meal (blood & bone meal will do that).

Wow, I was going to suggest fox farm happy frog and big bloom but then I read this:

And even though I'm pretty sure that's a fucking terrible idea I still feel like a total grow room pussy now and am hanging my head in shame.

I'm not sure if the OP is even around anymore. In any case I do not agree with some of the advice in this thread, so there are better sources of info IMO (if you would like me to elaborate just ask). We post all grow related stuff in the mega grow thread now by the way.
