I called to pickup my last xanax script and was told I was a wk early... this has never been a problem before- different pharmacist/last rpt i don't know. Anyway I have a few back ups which I need for work/going out but otherwise I am taking valium and mogadon. It is generally 2 valium twice a day and two mogadon to sleep. It is my day off so I would normally take 3 xanax at once to relax (3x2mg is normally my daily dose, with another benzo to sleep, but on my day off I binge a little and ration later) and can generally sleep even if a cpl hours off this. Well I have taken 10-12 5mg valium (I though 6 would be the equivalent to the 3 xanax) and an additional 2 5mg mogadon and not feeling anything - this was on an empty stomach too. I know I have a high tolerance, but how much valium would I need to take to get any similar effects to xanax? I thought 1mg xanax = 5mg valium or thereabouts. Just took some night time mersyndol (codeine 10mg doxlamine succinate 5mg for additional relaxation) but not at all sleepy... Basic question I know but I am happy to chew through another ten valium if it will do something, but not going to bother if it wont.

You should be able to find a good benzo conversion chart online. I'd say if you're taking 6mgs of alprazolam daily you should probably shoot for around 60-80mgs of Diazepam as a substitute. Cross tolerance with benzos is almost complete. As long as it won't lead you to running out of all benzos altogether just adjust your dose accordingly with Diazepam until your script comes in.

You can definitely substitute one benzo for another to a degree, you say you're not feeling it, but the real question is whether or not you're experiencing withdrawals.
