otc codeine products in spain?

Contugesic ( unsure of the spelling), 60mg dihydrocodeine, Codeisan, 30 mg codeine phosphate and various brands of benzos are widely available in Spain. But they become harder and harder to buy OTC, especially if your Spanish leaves something to be desired.

A simpler alternative to traipsing round the farmacias is to take advantage of the walk-in surgeries that have sprung up on every tourist strip. For 10 or 20 euros an obliging doctor will satisfy all not-too-ambitious requests with a minimum of questions and sign a prescription on the spot.

Codeisan is still widely available, although many pharmacists will not sell it to you without a perscription. If you ask a few, pretty quickly you will find one that does. It´s cheap (less than 3 euros for 20 30mg pills) however it´s a short lasting although pleasant high. Is DHC much better?

Also, does anyone know what current brand names to ask for for Tramadol or DHC? I find that if you ask directly for codeine, for example, they will almost never sell it to you. However if you matter of factly state the brand name and form (codeisan en comprimidos) they are more likely to comply.

Just to update the thread for anyone who finds it by searching, I've had absolutely no luck buying Codesian in any of the eight or so pharmacies I've visited in Barcelona. I'm thinking of going the walk-in clinic route to try to get something. I've got a nasty cold and have a lot of work to do this week.

when i was living in tenerife we could buy speed pills easily and i think up to 20mg of codeine in some sort of preparation - just say you have terrible back pain and see whats offered
