You might be interested in knowing CBN (or another non-psychoactive cannabinoid, I forget) has recently been shown to be effective at blocking tumor growth. Very effective, as I recall.

I'll see if I can pull up a full-text. They haven't tested oral weed, I wouldn't bother cooking it if someone wants to maintain the CBN and other cannabinoids- besides, you don't want to get a buzz.
 
Miatake should a good deal of potential in this area. I've personally achieved success in shrinking a testicular tumor out of existance completely by doing nothing more than eating several of thes mushrooms daily.

I didn't know that about THC inducing apoptosis, either. That's really interesting. Perhaps that's why they have trouble finding increased rates of lung cancer in potheads?

If you're looking for experimental trials, there's always tons of stuff going on at clinicaltrials.gov.

My family has a significant incidence of several types of cancer so it's always of interest to me... Cancer is a very destructive and disheartening disease.

Stuff I've learned after doing a lot of research and seeing a bunch of clinical trials run:
- Because it works in a cell line in vitro or in rats does not mean anything in humans.
- All cancer cells are of different genetic codes and all are rapidly multiplying and thus mutating, so while one therapy may work for one person, it may not do anything for another, and there's a good chance that someone who it does work for will become tolerant to it anyway in the long run if the cancer is malignant enough.
- Sometimes it's too much to put someone (especially that you love) through lots of painful experimental chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. If you've tried a lot and it's still going down hill, there's a point where it's best to let it go.
- The use of controls and double-blinding in studies where most of the people are either going to die or not die if the treatment works is a kind of moronic. We already know how the course of the disease progresses if untreated. In my time I've seen a lot of people abuse the entry criteria (being on other medications secretly, etc) anyway.

In the future (in the next 30 years) I fully believe most of cancer will be eradicated by genetically targeted immunotherapy and viral therapy rather than any cytotoxic compounds that are currently used (many of which are also very toxic to normal cells and vastly ineffective against the types of cancer with a poorer prognosis).

right, you don't have a local university who'd have a copy, or know any students you might be able to ask about it? molecular pharmacology isn't too obscure

alternatively you could just email the author and explain your situation.
 
yeah, i have e-mailed authors in the past and most are good about forwarding a copy, though noting many who are on this forum seem to attend university i figured someone could do it without much effort when the had a chance and it was no huge rush

i think i will e-mail the author now though...heaven forbid i actually drive 10 minutes to the University , LOL...

In the current study, we tested the central hypothesis that exposure to Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta9-THC), the major psychoactive component in marijuana, can lead to enhanced growth of tumors that express low to undetectable levels of cannabinoid receptors by specifically suppressing the antitumor immune response. We demonstrated that the human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 and the mouse mammary carcinoma 4T1 express low to undetectable levels of cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, and that these cells are resistant to Delta9-THC-induced cytotoxicity. Furthermore, exposure of mice to Delta9-THC led to significantly elevated 4T1 tumor growth and metastasis due to inhibition of the specific antitumor immune response in vivo. The suppression of the antitumor immune response was mediated primarily through CB2 as opposed to CB1. Furthermore, exposure to Delta9-THC led to increased production of IL-4 and IL-10, suggesting that Delta9-THC exposure may specifically suppress the cell-mediated Th1 response by enhancing Th2-associated cytokines. This possibility was further supported by microarray data demonstrating the up-regulation of a number of Th2-related genes and the down-regulation of a number of Th1-related genes following exposure to Delta9-THC. Finally, injection of anti-IL-4 and anti-IL-10 mAbs led to a partial reversal of the Delta9-THC-induced suppression of the immune response to 4T1. Such findings suggest that marijuana exposure either recreationally or medicinally may increase the susceptibility to and/or incidence of breast cancer as well as other cancers that do not express cannabinoid receptors and are resistant to Delta9-THC-induced apoptosis.

Well there's probably "studies" that show that THC causes everything from ingrown toenails to cascade brain lobotomy. 8) Any and all research can be just as worthless as it is revealing, and the fact that that that domain name ends in .gov should be an obvious red flag.
