(2012/10/23-17:53)

I am the only person I know who will be affected by this. It was nice while it lasted. :-/

Shit, that is too bad.
(Unless it turns out that synthetic cannabinoids are actually really carcinogenic, in which case it is a lifesaver)
But I may also be affected by this, though I don't live in Osaka.
I expect that this will spread to the rest of Japan, and my favorite legal herb shop will close.
Time to stock up?

apparently, it's still around. there was an announced schedule of something like 700+ synthetic cannabinoids to be banned around february 2013 but it'll probably take a little while longer to investigate each one before they're gone.

they call it "goho habu" which means "legal herbs" but it's also known as "dappo habu" which means "law-evading herbs".

my 5 yen.

Many varieties currently at the legal herb shop downtown here in Western Japan.
Dozens and dozens, all synthetic cannabinoids sold as incense.
A friend visiting from out of country sampled 5 kinds, and I tried each with him.
Some are ridiculously strong - a single hit can be far too much.
Knowing this, I vaped minute amounts at a time until I got to a good level.
Mostly very pleasant and strongly creativity-enhancing, apart from one that almost felt like an opiate in how it made me warm and comfortable and sleepy.
None made my heart race, like the synthetic cannabinoids I tried several years ago.
It has been a fun week, but he leaves tomorrow, and I will be back to my usual lifestyle again, mostly avoiding possible carcinogens...
