hi
as you might know, reserpine inhibits the vesicular monoamine tranporter(vmat) and reduce the amount of monoamines that get into the synaptic vesicles, so i would like to know if you know anything that works the opposite of reserpine and enhance the vmat and increase the amount of monoamines that will get into the synaptic vesicles?
if you know such thing that will do that, please it's very important. thank you very much!

I have read by an author called Alan Baumeister that u can increase the MA's in the synapse by dosing on a MAOI before you take the reserpine. I have done this with Syrian rue and it worked.

Lithium meng, it upregulates VMAT2 in most brain areas but the locus coeruleus in rat studies.

Hi epilson
dose it makes that more monoamines will get into the synaftic vesicles?
thanks!

It looks like it should, it upregulates the rate limiting enzymes for DA and 5HT as well as VMAT2. It might have some different actions that inhibit large release though, it is a mood stabilizer.

i think you misunderstood me, im looking for something to increase the amount of monoamines that will get into the synaptic vesicles to increase the mood, not stable\decrease it.
i have a treatment resistent depression and i believe that is what i need, something that will work like the OPPOSITE of reserpine, and will get MORE monoamines into the synaptic vesicles.
thanks a lot! (:

Lithium's got some pretty insane antidepressant properties in some populations, it would more or less make sure you'd have more monoamines in the synaptic vesicles but wouldn't directly lead to a higher concentration in the synaptic cleft where they would directly improve mood. Almost all antidepressants are a mood stabilizer in some sense of the word for what its worth.

thanks, i didn't tried yet lithium actually. it's maybe the only med i didn't tried yet, it gives me a little hope althou im pretty pessimistic
do you know any other thing that will do that? in case lithium will not help me...
thanks a lot, you really helping me (:
