I have questions about the color of latex that bleeds from the poppypod. AI says that a yellow orangish color means it's high in thebaine. Mine are not bleeding white ,they are bleeding a tan color and I'm not sure if they are one of the high tebaine Norman's or mutant type 1 strain.

Hey man, I'm not gonna get rid of this, however, I feel you could probably find better information somewhere else. I'm not sure off the top of my head. I imagine you could talk to some gardeners/horticulturists who wouldn't mind answering your questions. I just don't know how many people you're going to run into here in BDD with that level of knowledge. You might meet one or two people who have scored an Opium Poppy, but unlikely to find the level of expertise you're requiring. Good luck.

Thank you for you response. I came here because I have done some digging and this subject matter seems to be controlled information and lots of scare tactics online. Was just hoping someone here had real experience they may want to share

Haha, welcome to our world. The fact that an idiot like myself is considered any kind of authority on these topics demonstrates the tragic state of information availability.

This is a very specialized question, you're right. See, the only people dealing with Thebaine-heavy Poppy cultivation are likely to be directly tied to the licit Opium production for pharmaceuticals. It requires a great deal more knowledge to turn Thebaine into Opioid agonists than it is to harvest poppy and distill it to Morphine/Heroin.

There is this crazy chick who is present on Reddit who discusses intricate Opioid chemistry in-depth. I believe she goes by "Duchess Von D". I talked to her once. She might know or otherwise be able to direct you.

I've never heard that high thebaine cause the opium Latex to change colour.
Normally it's what's in the soil that I've heard effects colour.

Also yellow, white and even pink are possibly colours of opium latex when it's bleeding before it oxidises and goes browny black.

ive seen both tan and white and they were both morphine heavy. i think its also highly unlikely that you acquired pharmaceutical copyrighted plant genetics. i read an article about wallabees eating poppy fields in tasmania for pharmaceuticals. they knew the specific number of pods that had been eaten by these wallabies. its highly unlikely you have a thebaine heavy variety. worry not.

Last opium I had was jet black and I suspect thebaine heavy, given how long it lasts (18 hours-ish) and how upbeat the effect is.

Just speculating though

AI says that a yellow orangish color means it's high in thebaine.
Yeah I read that that is generally the case. I'm not sure if it damages bluelight to direct people elsewhere, to places such as Reddit, but there are several excellent sub-reddits discussing topics exactly like this on there.

IIRC, the orange colour generally means that it's high in thebaine, but not absolutely always.

It should be easy to do a search on such questions within Reddit, and find several threads discussing such topics. There's niches for everything on there, and many people posting on there do have extremely in-depth experiential and theoretical specialised knowledge that they share.

They go into more detail about the Norman strains, and I gathered that it's generally the Tazmanian strains of papaver somniferum that are grown for their high thebaine content. They bleed orange latex, and they are used commercially for the production of the Oxy range of opioids. I think home poppy growers generally avoid these types, as too much unprocessed thebaine is not pleasant to consume, and potentially dangerous, IIRC.
