I posted in homeless thread about closed eye visuals and got a response of opium dreams. I was wondering how often does this happen with people who take hydrocodone? Is it common?

Is this common among people who take hydrocodone? I told my sister about it a few min ago and she said she has never had that happen to her. She has used hydrocodone for over 10 years for a car accident we were in together. She has never heard about it.

I'm just not sure what you're referencing with "closed eye visuals" and "opium dreams" maybe its just me. If you could elaborate on exactly what those are I could at least give my opinion.

Yeah, nodding on opiates is very natural, and extremely pleasant. Nodding is kind of like going in and out of a fantastical dream-land of pleasure and contentment, and visuals can be part of this. Now, opiates can also cause crazy dreams if you fall asleep completely. But, yeah, very common.

I know what nodding is. But this was different totally. I was awake. I wanted to fall asleep but I could not. I felt really jittery and wanted to sleep it off. I finished cleaning the kids room and went to lay down. The tv was on and my hubbie next to me. I closed my eyes and immediately I saw very vivid colorful images just streaming from right to left. I opened my eyes and it was gone. Every thing looked normal. I could still hear everything around me like the tv my hubbie laughing with my eyes open or closed. I closed my eyes again. Immediately I saw the vivid images rolling threw my mind. It was not scary. It was all cartoonish and pleasant. It lasted for about a hour. I was not a sleep or nodding. I wanted to sleep. Finally I did and I woke up in the middle of the night with a headache. My dreams were normal. It was the weirdest thing I ever experienced.

How much did you take? Mixed with anything else?

I take norco 10/325mg. I has 1 1/2 at 8am and 1 1/2 at 2:30pm and 1 at 8pm. That was it. Nothing else. I usually take 2-3 aday. This is the first time I took 4 pills in one day. I ate and drank plenty of water.

When I had a lot lower opioid tolerance/was first starting out taking opioids (I started 8 years ago), I found hydrocodone to be pretty damn dreamy. Dreamier than any other opioid I've tried. It was also a little different than the traditional nod described for all opioids, even hydrocodones own nod (though they all have their individual characteristics). I would nod on the hydrocodone of course at the right dose, going in and out of a dreamy state, but after I was already coming down for a peroid of time, I'd reach a point where I couldn't nod (4-5 hours after ingestion - I would really only be able to nod from +1:00-+3:00). At this period of time I'd find myself in a light sleep/vivid dream scape where I had semi-consciousness, that was distinctly different from nodding. This would go last for even an hour or so uninterrupted (ala, not nodding in and out). I absolutely loved it. To bad I'd have to eat my own body weight of hydrocodone to get to such a place again.

Thank you for the info. It has not happened since Friday. I do notice at first I get the energy and want to do everything then about 1-3 hrs later I get tired but usually I still have things to do. It still is working great for pain at this point. Lately my pain level is down. I'm really happy about that.

^^ I'm glad this medication is helping your pain :) Just carry on what you're doing atm though, and do not attempt to take any more than you need/are prescribed, as tolerance builds extremely quick, as does dependance, and soon you'll need 10 x what you are currently taking to even get much of an effect off of it at all. Take care.

I had one of those last night :D It was super intense and I could feel myself going through the windshield (it was this weird car crash type ordeal).

I did this a lot during the summer. I liked the way it made me feel as well. Today I came home and slept for 2 hrs and it was the best nap I had. I the dreams I had was me thinking about all the stuff I needed to do beside napping :)

The only time I have dreams that have anything to do with opiates, is when I don't have anymore, am going into withdrawal, and laying in bed worrying about going through the next day not being able to get anything to "cure" me -that is if I get any sleep at all. Those are the times when I have dreams of having a couple generously filled bags, or meeting up with the dealer/making a call. It sucks having dreams like that when you are in the worst spot.
