I recently received my new pain mgt script. I had to use a different pharmacy. They only had Rhodes 15 mg oxycodone. I've only use the K8 or M15 pills. To my chagrin, I'm not getting any relief from the Rhodes rp 15 oxycodone. Has anyone had a similar experience and is their a different way to take besides just eating them, or with a potentiater?

Also, before I started back on my monthly oxycodone regiment, 120, 15 mg oxycodone, (1 pill 4 times a day) (back issues due to a MVA), I had ran out of oxycodone, while i was out of state for 2 weeks. I started taking Green Vein Maeng DA Kratom .6 mg kratom per capsule, and I started out at 4 or so capsules per day, and reaching my maximum 9 pills per day over the course of 14 days. I reduced my kratom intake to 3 capsules the Monday before my Wed. pain mgt appointment, with zero taking Tues, or Wed. I couldn't get my script refilled until Thurs afternoon, so I was kratom free from Monday afternoon until Thursday afternoon when I was able to refill my oxy script at a different pharmacy, but received Rhodes 15mg pills instead of the K8's I'm been receiving. About an hour after taking one Rhodes 15 mg pill, I did feel a slight relief in back pain, but not the usual relief within 20 minutes. After the first dose, I haven't really felt anything from these Rhodes 15mg oxycodone. Has anyone experienced a similar experience? I took a relatively small amount of kratom for two weeks, stopping entirely 3 days before starting the oxycodone. That was 10 days ago and I still haven't felt the usual way I feel after taking the K8's. So, I haven't taking any kratom, so is it possible the inactive ingredient magnesium stearate in the Rhodes oxycodone is causing the meds NOT being absorbed like the K8 or M15 pills? I always thought all generic pills were the same, the active ingredients must be the same, but the inactive ingredients don't, and looking at the Rhodes vs the mallinkrodt, or K8, the Rhodes is the only one with magnesium stearate in the formula...Thoughts? Ideas on ways to remedy? Can you add a few kratom to potentate the oxy? I definitely would appreciate all feedback. JS

Hey JS, sorry to hear you're not getting the relief you need from the Rhodes oxycodone. I've heard of people having issues with different generics, and the inactive ingredients can definitely make a difference. The magnesium stearate in the Rhodes pills might be affecting absorption, but it's hard to say for sure. Have you talked to your doctor or pharmacist about this? They might be able to help you figure out what's going on. As for adding kratom to potentiate the oxy, I've heard of people doing that, but I'm not sure if it's safe or effective. You might want to do some more research or talk to a healthcare pro before trying that. Good luck, and I hope you find a solution that works for you!

those 15mg are fine you screwed up your tolerance taking kratom it will come back...will get a little better each day but opiate tolerance is the problem here not the pills...give it time it will come back the kratom takes some time to get out of your system and always take the least amount of kratom to get you to your next opiate script or you will raise your tolerance very very fast

We will never be able to answer this question in any kind of useful, meaningful or practical way. I would argue that hearing others' opinions spoken without any kind of evidence to back them up will actually only make things worse for you. At the end of the day, this kind of thing is a conspiracy theory, as we have no way of answering it and by sharing your opinion, you will always find people ready to rally to your belief. That's just how that goes.

I've been doing this for a long time now. I feel pretty confident in my opinion, but just like what I just said, it's just an opinion. We will never be able to figure out what's up or isn't up with your pills unless you submit one to a laboratory for testing, which I know is unlikely to happen.

More than likely, you messed with your tolerance by using the Kratom. People underestimate the potency of Kratom and this underestimation has become especially dangerous as more and more potent extracts of the plant become common on the market. At the end of the day, Kratom exerts its primary effects through Mitragynine and its analogs which have been demonstrated to be classic Opioid-Receptor-Agonists. Opioid agonists tend to work in a linear fashion, so the only step left in creating a wicked potent extract ia distillation, there's no crazy science involved. My point is, these extremely-potent extracts are becoming popular for a reason - we have an entire civilization being effected by a deluge of Opioid dependence. There is money to be made in creating stronger extracts.

The notion of generic drugs working or no working is a perennial fear/paranoia in our community. I've experienced these thoughts myself. What time and experience has shown, is that generics are essentially guaranteed to be as potent and of the same constituent chemicals as the previously-patented drug.

There have been instances of generics not being made properly, but I would consider this phenomenon to be like airplane crashes. You are most likely to fly on airplanes your entire life without even knowing someone who has been affected, let alone yourself being affected.

I would focus your energies on reestablishing your normal tolerance levels. Your dosages of Oxycodone are not outrageous and for that reason, you could be prone to Kratom extracts having a noticeable impact on your tolerance and dependence. I would focus really hard on not repeating any of this. It's hard enough to maintain an Opioid-Patient relationship long-term without taking huge risks like this. A single wobble in a person's administration can easily be enough to derail them for life.

Thank you for taking the time to write a response that certainly helped me, and I hope you helped many others with similar concerns. I only took kratom for 2 weeks, the only time I've tried it. I tried to minimize my consumption as I grew closer to my next pain mgt appt, but underestimated the length of time for kratom to be eliminated from my system. You hit on the generic drug issue we all ponder, and all of my concerns. Great job, I thank you for your support. JS
