Opioid induced immunosupression responsible for antidepressant effects of opiates?

I have an auto-immune disorder(Crohn's & Spinal Arthritis). I take a TNF-alpha inhibitor(Adalimumab) which helps the arthritis. I've taken Hydrocodone before and noticed a pronounced antidepressant effect. I know that sickness behavior as triggered by various Interleukins appears very similar to Major Depression in humans. Has any research been done with compounds that perhaps mimic the immunosuppressant qualities of some opiates(esp IL suppression), but are not opiates?

I even found a willing p-doc to prescribe Suboxone then Subutex and have taken it from .5mg to 4 mg/day. I was on it several years and finally got off it a few months ago. I feel it did not work for Depression/Sickness behavior. It should be noted that buprenorphine has been described as an opiate without "immunosuppressant" qualities(What exactly immunosuppressant means, or if it's the same in all contexts refering opiates, I don't know. The only good it did for me was provide a small 1-2 hour window of analgesia, which helped to "'steel" me so I could work. But the analgesia felt no stronger than about 400 mg Ibuprofen, which I can no longer take due to Crohn's.

Does anybody have any info or opinion on these issues?

The relationship is exists, but is rather complex.

Check out the figure on page 380 of the following. A decent primer to the relationship is laid out on around page 150.
