Hey mate, welcome to bluelight

How come you decided to stop taking the painkillers? If you stopped taking the painkillers there would definitely be a lot of pain, just wondering does your doctor know about this?

Everything's normal man. We all need something to let us tolerate the world, prescribed medication is usually done to make us feel better and to me prescribed medication is definitely normal.

Don't let anyone tell you that it isn't or if they try to make you feel uncomfortable about it, then they don't really understand what some people go through and they usually aren't very kind people themselves. Short-minded people.

To your first question, withdrawal from any daily activity that you've been doing for one and a half years there will be side effects, from switching to drinking or not drinking coffee to getting that special lunch at the tuck shop, there will be an effect and your brain will notice it. Unfortunately with strong painkillers your brain will definitely notice it more than something as simple as a fix of coffee, that's why you went through the withdrawals.

How you feeling now man? How come you want to stop taking them?

I too am messed up! From The Army and cancer. I've got a broken back, shrapnel in my arm, a bullet in the bone of my leg, 2 herniated discs in my neck, 3 shoulder surgeries involving 32 pins and staples to keep it working, a plate in my face, 4 screws in my jaw, my eye socket is fused together, def in my left ear, my left kidney is gone from cancer, bad arthritis in my hands, multiple skull fractures...and on and on. It's normal to feel the way you do. Sometimes you feel you don't want narcotics because they control you, other times you need them to cope, other time you need them for pain because you can't take it anymore. And detoxing is always horrible. There is a plethora of knowledge and support here. I hope you start feeling better. Ask any questions you want we will all support you.
