yeah i know there is a FAQ ;)
but this is different
Ive been on 60mg oxy every day for 4 mos
My doctor tells me time and time again, that opiate withdrawl is not worse than the flu
do you guys agree?
just curious for some other opinions
because I feel like bricks are being crushed on my body, even with immodium and practically get suicidal from the pain
luckily he gave me another 90 oc 20mg's today ;)
am I rare, is it all in my head, or do you guys have as rough a time as me?

i think ur doc. doesnt know much what hes talkin about. i just went (4th day) through smack withdrawl and even today i feel fucked up.

ps I hate BENZO's ... i have a SHITLOAD of valium, clonazepam, attinal but refuse to take them
they give me the worst feeling in the world and I get NO recreational value from them
I actually gave half of them back to the doc b/cI disliked them so much.....no one else wanted them either

Yes... I mean no.... well both. yeah.
The flu can really suck. But damn that heroin... it is no fun to kick either.
Do you think it hurts more to stub your toe or get your finger slammed in a door? Who the hell cares it fucking hurts.

do they even make oxy 60's? well any way, i was addicted to the 80's for about a yr. and when i guit, my god i wanted to die. i swear there is a withdrawl...and it is worse than the flu. now i havent done them in 2 yrs and i still think about them. i think they have a mental addiction, but thats just my opinion...

Well.. I speak from experience on this.. I have been off the Oc's for 2 years now.. Started em in 98.. When i quit I was doing between 400 mg.. to maintain on a good day... and 600 mg.. to throw down and party.. er... seriously nod.... THe Dt's were the worst thing I have ever experienced.. I still chew vic's and benzo's on occasion but I limit my opiate use to no more than a 2 day maximum... If you are on a high does.. quit while you can...or at least slack off..

For years I’ve heard from people who go through withdrawal that plain and simple, you get sick. But it kind of conflicted with what I was seeing and feeling so I decided to check it out myself. My habit was for about a year and only on the weekends until the last few months it grew. About four days a week, till finally about 6. I’ve done up to 3 bags in a day, but mostly around 1, 1 + ½. The biggest physical difference I feel between withdrawal and a cold, is the level of discomfort. When you’re sick, it’s hard to get comfortable but possible. And you can sleep. I’ve only had minimal withdrawal symptoms, the worse being a slight ache I feel in my bones that is just straight out uncomfortable and makes it hard to sleep. I don’t even want to think how it would feel if my habit was worse. Then there’s the mental. When I’m sick I crave orange juice. Right now I’m only on my second day without H and between the Imodium and aleve, I feel pretty good, minus a stuffy nose and a slight ache. But I could REALLY go for a bag right now, or even a bump. My mind is trying to justify to hit the spot on lunch, but only if I promise to do a very small maintenance shot to feel better for a class tonight. I really want to put down for a couple of weeks, but now I’m thinking more to wait until Friday. This mental shit is a bitch. You don’t get this when you’ve got a cold.

No worse then the flu? This is a doctor that has OBVIOUSLY not dipped into his own stash (must have read the insert that says "Withdrawal exhibits itself as flu like symptoms") .. sorry, after a good binge you would welcome the flu .. withdrawal you have fluid comming out all ends, all that other fun flu-like shit, PLUS every muscle in your body aches to the point you wouldn't mind having your legs amputated.. lets also not forget the mental hell you go through either...
But quitting is easy- I do it every month!

Withdrawal is *similar* in some respects to the flu, but it is not the flu, and personally I'd rather have the flu. Your doctor is an idiot.
The first day usually isn't so bad. When you wake up the second day is when you really know that you got physically hooked.
You look like shit. Your skin is blotchy. Your eyes are red and itchy. You feel uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. I don't shiver, but I feel cold. I've turned my house up past 75 degrees (infact I had to do that this weekend) and it will feel like it's only 65. You can keep putting on layers of clothes, but to no avail. The ability to concentrate is GONE. Kicking would be easy except it's really hard to convince yourself to go through it during the weekend, so I always end on Sunday night and do it at work, which is stupid. You sit there and can't do anything. I generally have to get up and walk around every 30-60 minutes. Usually this incorporates a trip to the bathroom to have something like a 2 minute panic attack trying to get a grip and telling myself I need to work, or I have a cigarette. I've never thrown up, but often I'll gag. There is one very notable feature as well: muscle clenching. Particularly in the feet. Joints hurt, etc. You can definantly sleep, but a lot of times I writhe around a bit. I'm forever dehydrated during withdrawals and can easily consume a gallon of water.
Also, I save my cottons and usually add water and shoot them during withdrawal, as well as flushing my empty vials with water. This does nothing. It's all psychological. But often I calm down a bit.
On the 4th day, it's about all gone except for severe cravings. After that it slowly fades away until my dumbass figures out a way to round up $200 and do it all over again. Thank god for the "minimum payment" feature on the credit card bill. I'll be in debt forever!

i could have sworn i wrote just this on this thread the other day..

mmmm. well, there's all sorts of ways to go about kicking. i'm currently in a rehab facility... in a long-term program to keep me off of heroin. i got to experience the joys of kicking in an institution... so, i thought i might add a bit of insight as to what regiment of medications they permit in a medical setting.
During the first 14 days, i was given darvon and a combination of oral clonodine and catapres (clonodine patches). To sleep, for the first few days i got Restiril, then Vistiril... that helped a bit. i at least slept for a couple hours each night.
After 2 weeks, though, i was pulled off of everything being used for detox and sleep aid... and they prescribed Paxil (a SSRI) because i couldn't sit still. This made things a LOT worse, and they switched it out to Remeron (another SSRI) at about the 4th week. i was on that for about 3 weeks before i couldn't handle the side effects (weight gain, constantly craving sugar even worse than normal opiate withdrawal, and feeling generally STUPID).
Anyhow... i've been totally clean for about two and a half months, and i'm beginning to feel somewhat human again.
good luck and be well.

yes. i am in rehab right now. i did 2 weeks in a detox hospital... 28 days in a primary care facility, and now i am in a sort of institution/half-way house - which is a four month stay (i've been here 4 weeks). Still programming... ha ha.
and yes. the idea was to do the BARE MINIMUM to keep me from simply leaving out of sheer inability to deal with the situation. i felt horrible, and believe me, i'll NEVER forget it... i still have chronic headaches. But, as most treatment facilities are - the policy is NO MOOD ALTERING SUBSTANCES. (i.e. any worthwhile benzos, opiates, etc. in general... anything "fun") They wouldn't even permit me to have Midrin for my headaches due to the mild supposedly mood-altering effects.
so. yeah. i hate it here. but, i'm dealing with it.
be well.

No it's not... RTFM! Or search, this has been covered many times before...

do you guys agree?

With a dose that small - yes, your withdrawal will be no worsethen the flueiowth the exception of the muscle aches... of course that assumes you're simply talking about PHYSICAL WITHDRAWAL and not full blown psychological addiction...

just curious for some other opinions

Alright, search for the other thread that answered his question - it was posted in the last couple days...

luckily he gave me another 90 oc 20mg's today ;)
am I rare, is it all in my head, or do you guys have as rough a time as me?

You're physically dependant, but this doesn't mean you're addicited - you're simply suffering withdrawal from the abscence of the narcotics... now if you have a legit need for these meds (ie pain) don't worry, just try to stick to your proper dose... if you're just enjoying them your destiny is in your hands - 60mg/day for 4 months is hardly a monstor "habbit", just tuff it out, you will live...

blahblahblah... ;)
well. most of what you've asked me, i'm not really wanting to post all about on here. So, if you (or anyone else) is really curious, feel free to contact me on AOL Instant Messenger... (unholyangel78 ) i can talk more freely there.
But, the basics are: i'm a 23 year old female, "recovering" IV heroin user (any variety, but primarily either white or pale brown) and i also got into a lot of pharmacuetical opiates as well.
i went into the hospital (detox) following a bad experience. i didn't really have the benefit of choosing where/when/how i went. Methadone maintenence wasn't even an option. My parents took over from there... shipped me out to another part of the country, etc. i'm stuck in this place until THEY say i'm done. So....
basically... like i said, feel free to email or hit me up on AIM. i'll be around.
be well.

what doies everyone think of the IMPLANT method??i forgot the name, i think it is called NALTREXELONE???anyways, i ahd a friend get the implant surgery done, and 2 days out of the hospital he was craving the opiates bigtime..he had only been a NUBAIN junkie, but he had abad enuff habit with just that, and he couldnt bare the withdrawals so he went the implant route..he still wants the opiates, but is goiung to a rehab type AA class 4 days a week, for 2-3 months..this costs him around $3000!!his insurance supposedly does NOT cover it either, and i told him he would probably be better off not fighting all the urges and just go back to getting high all day instead of dumping that much cash on a lame ass rehab program.. shit, whenever he has the opportunity to scare again, i kinow he will be back using again..
i dont think any type of rehab facility would help me, as i honestly dont think i have a problem..i do wonder what chronic pain persons do when they have made the decision to quit opiates?/what do they do for the pain after they have finally stopped taking pain meds??im in the same boat as they are, and i know damn well if i was to quit opiates, i would need something for the pain..i have heard that BUPRENEX helps alot, but shit, all that is is another opiate LIIE drug..
as far as OC withdrawal being worse than the FLU, fuck yes it is..with the FLU, i feel like shit, but i can sleep and am not so damn wired and achy feeling..plus, with the FLU i dont get those "leg kicking" episodes, those are a real pain in the ass...whomever said the FLU is equal to opiate withdrawal is very wrong..u cannot get any type of comfort whatsoever while withdrawing..
