That's how it feels anyways.
Hi all,
I'm new to this thread but have been lurking for a couple years now.
I've been on opiates since I was 14 years old ( now 23 ) it all started with a serious health issue, numerous surgeries and hospital stays. At 14 I was sent home after being on a dilaudid pump for weeks and weeks. I experienced withdrawal of course after receiving shots for months on end every night and pumps for weeks. I was hospitalized and weaned off. A doctor then placed me on hydrocodone for a issue with my spine. 10 mg 325 to be exact. I'd take a good 7 a day at only 15 years old. Fast forward, I met my husband at a young age. He wasn't into opiates at all. I cleaned up for about a year. Of course I went back, This time morphine. I continued that for a good year. My husband started dipping into my script for the 10s and soon morphine was found in my system and that script was gone. This is when the trouble began. Now it was not only myself but my husband and we had to seek it elsewhere. I stopped the morphine 4 years ago & am now strictly into the hydros. I had a medical issues last year and was on oxycodone 10 mg (12 a day ). That all ended in December and I had to once again seek the hydrocdone. I only take around 50 mgs a day but it's so hard to kick! We have tried many times but it's hard with the life we must maintain. Hubby works a hard strenuous labor intensive job and I'm a homemaker. We have nothing to show for all his hard work. We get clean for a couple weeks and give up because our energy is a zero and just don't feel right. I feel as though I've been on opiates so long, most of my life really, that THIS is the norm! I've cut back to 25 mg a day & today only took 7.5 mg. it's rough! I mean I get the sweats, nausea, anxiety, RLS, deep aches, I just fall apart. What can I do?! I've considered subs but don't want to trade a small problem for a huge one. The energy gets me the most and my husband also has a big problem with this. Would an anti depressant help? We are so close to rock bottom, I just want to wake up for this 9 year nightmare and be someone else. Any advice is needed! I'm just so desperate. My family deserves better and I just want to be done! Thanks for reading!

I mean as a far as the money issue, subs would help.....
Your right, you would be switching form a short acting opiate to a long acting one, but you may want to consider the benefits vs the cons.

Some people find it easier to distance themselves from the high they get by switching to subs for a period of time and then kicking the habit.

In my case the antidepressants helped but I was prescribed them before my habit (I went back on two months before kicking).

I know what you mean, the energy drain is what gets me the most too.

Full disclosure I went BACK to short acting opiate before kicking, so there was a full circle with me.

Let us know what you decide to do. There is hope even after 9 years.
Many people on this forum were on opis for a lot longer, 6 years myself.

Stopping cold turkey isn't gonna work.
Do a SLOW taper. So you're on 25mg a day now? When you feel comfortable, taper to 20mg. Etc...
It might take a few months, but you're less likely to relapse. Good luck :)

Hey DicedPineapples and welcome to bluelight=D

There are distinct sections of withdrawal we have to get through. The acutes and the paws.
The medications I would explore the use of for detox would be:
>Clonidine< DOSED EVER FOUR HOURS..
one of either
>NEURONTIN< >HERE< >HERE<
OR >Lyrica<
OR >phenibut<

>A BENZO BUT JUST AT NIGHT<
>a nsaid<
>melatonin<
tylenol

Then we have the PAWS..

Sorry to load you up with so much info at once but its kinda good to have it in one place fro reference.

Addiction Guide

So there is a ton of information about what you and your husband are going to beat... you can do this.. with the medications available the acutes can become allot more doable. since your husband works such a strenuous job he may the lope and then a tapper of those may be the best way for you guys to go. The lack of energy is something you may choose to medicate but then you risk adding another substance with potential problems into the mix. I used methylphenidate to combat the fatigue after the acutes were over. It isn't a good idea to use it while in acutes as it can make things worse for allot of people.

I would look at and come up with a strong plan that addresses all the three facets.. the acutes, the PAWS, and the addiction. You guys can do this.. as if I can anyone can:)

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. I'm just tired of depending on other people to get through the day. Prices are rising and supplies are scarce. It's awful to go to bed at night knowing what tomorrow brings with just a half to take in the morning :( I don't really have any sources to wean down, I wish I did but don't :( I'm really getting interested in SUBS. How does that process work? I live an hour out of town so do I get a script or do I have to go daily & be seen? We are down to one car & no buses run here. How does all that work? Thanks!

^it depends. If they trust you, they will give you a script every month or so. If they don't, you'll have to go to the clinic/pharmacy for your daily dose.
They will drug test you once on a regular basis, if they find any drug other than suboxone, you'll have to go there everyday for your dose.
I think that's how it works.
