It increases motivation etc at a price..eventually it doesnt do as good a job as it used to and if u dont use there will be no productivity to speak of.
Yes but that's the cycle you need more and more to keep those pains away as time goes on unless you on say suboxone which is one of the reasons I like it so much you can keep on the same dose for decades without having to raise it. Or so I've heard ive only been on sub just over a year and my tolerance Has only gone down or stayed the same which a lot Better than Heroin where is ent from a half gram a day to am 8ball in a few years.

Yeah, you feel better when you're high, big suprise.
The dramatic decrease in productivity afterwards is a huge trade-off.
With that said, I agree that opioids are an EXTREMELY effective anti-depressant, at RESPONSIBLE doses, and if used, again, responsibly. But for the vast majority, that is simply unsustainable. And 160mg oxy per day? Come on, man, "yeah, I feel great taking 160mg oxy a day". Yeah, shocking revelation!
Methadone is also unique in that regard, at a certain point your tolerance levels out.
For me, tolerance builds rapidly to buprenorphine at microgram doses, but starts to level off at 1-2mg per day. But it is easy to control, I can occasionally go 36h without and it helps to reset tolerance.
But man, if you do have to go 48-72h without a dose, buprenorphine is amazing. Strong, killer duration... I'm talking IV of course.
Yup if you don't take it every day, and you use NMDA antagonists, buprenorphine can be quite euphoric at low doses. I feel like past 4mg it's more of a partial agonist, but at 1-2mg (when my tolerance was that low) it's quite a strong, long high when used very occasionally.
I also agree that the physical toll opioids put on your body is practically a joke. Smoking weed is probably worse for your body (smoke in the lungs) then taking opioid pills (no tylenol of course).
But mentally, even though there's no technical brain damage, opioids can be quite devastating.
