Have sprained my neck badly due to some horrible whiplash. Last night I badly pulled several muscles by my tailbone. Pain:11/10

100% immobilized in bed, have to urinate in a water jug. I have a high tolerance to oxycodone, and yes when I IV 90mgs+ it takes the edge off, but I'm wondering about opiates better suited to killing my pain rather than just mostly inducing euphoria. Would a high dose of morphine do the trick? If so what kind should I be "researching?"

I only have access to large quantities of vitalis 30mg oxy and mallinkrodt dilaudids I believe... 8mg.

Please help I am in EXCRUCIATING pain. By far the worst I've experienced in my life. Thank you..

Peace + love.

You may want to consider adding a drug that reduces inflammation, like ibuprofen or something. Don't rely on opioids alone for pain control.

Oxycodone/morphone seem like your best option. Do realise that all opioids will cause some euphoria; it's what they do...

Also don't forget to throw in some potentiators like DXM and diphenhydramine.

Anything in the morphine family as they tend to be more powerful and personally I find to have a physical effect vs mental. I use opana (oxymorphone) and find it to be the best choice, but due to its low oral BA and the new TRF for the ER people do not prefer it. Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is another good choice as it does have high BA all over compared to the other morphine compounds with morphine being the classic opiate.

There is also synthetic compounds like methadone, which is long lasting opiate that is used with other opiates to potentate it, but it is also a dangerous opiate that has led to a lot of OD due to misuse generally from combining it with other opiates. Fentanyl is also another powerful opiate, but I highly recommend only resorting to it as a last case scenario as it is supposed to be very easy to develop a dependency on and raises your tolerance extremely fast as well as becomes hard to lower afterwords. Most synthetic long acting ones I find to have this effect.

Again stick with the natural morphine and semi-synths that have minimal structural difference to it. If those do not work than as a last resort work with the more powerful synths, but do not abuse them and use them purely for pain management as you do not want to fuck up your tolerance especially in the situation your in.

Edit: Sekio is also right... Opiates just help you ignore pains that are healing, but if work still needs to be done on it you will still feel it. Definitely include other medications like anti-inflammatory to help with the muscle strain. If you have cannabis (lots of trim would do) available to you I recommend making a salve out of it if you can not buy a salve as that will really help with muscle aches. Here is a how to tek on making your own salve

You can even add in other herbs for fragrance or other healing qualities if you know of any.... I actually have yet to try it, but am planing to asap.

Sekio, good suggestion regarding the anti inflammatory. It's easy for me to forget that ibuprofen/aleve or whatever has those type of properties. I think as a chronic pain patient, I've gotten so used to worrying about lack of pain coverage (and in the beginning being prescribed these things for serious pain lol) I sort of as a habit discount these drugs ...not intentionally, of course. Glad for the reminder here.
Definitely, using something like this alongside an opiate/opioid for the OP's purposes sounds like it could be very useful.

Chase, I wonder how you'd do with some hydromorphone? It seems you aren't really getting relief from oxycodone. Maybe you could put that on the back burner for right now...it would suck to take higher and higher doses to get out of this agony youre in, only to find yourself with a tolerance which renders the drug useless to you in the future. I mean, I gathered from your post that Oxycodone has been helpful in general for you up until recently?

As you know, we all have widely varying opinions based on our personal experiences about which drug is "best". I'm not sure why I feel like hydromorphone maybe a good place to start... it's sort of strange, as I don't particularly care for the way it makes me feel emotionally. Again though, that's only my experience.
Just a little side note--My mother has been in agony for days due to severe arthritis in her hip/groin/lower back area. Her primary care doctor was uncomfortable prescribing anything stronger than hydrocodone. She saw a specialist today and he prescribed her hydromorphone, which she has done well within the past.
As I write this, she is resting comfortably on the sofa.
Don't know if this has been of any help. The thing that I really feel strongly about is backing off from the oxy until you get this thing reigned in a bit.
I hope things improve for you soon.

I'm sorry but we don't allow these type of threads even in the case of legitimate therapeutic pain management, we're not medical professionals and are not qualified to handle this sort of issue, we know nothing about your medical history and the extent of your injuries. Seek immediate medical attention. If you have whiplash and what initially sounds like blunt force trauma or car accident you need to get X-Rays done and FAST.

Have the doctors manage your pain man, they have the ability to help you better than a HR forum.
