ever just get done alot of any opiate and chill back to read a good book or check out your favorite online site and notice you cant focus?! I resort to covering one eye so i can read at like 30% my normal speed...

Usually i end up "falling asleep at keyboard" but thats beside the point.

I figure that dopemead has something to do with regulating eye focus so in turn a bunch of any opiate will make you loose focus, thats merely speculation though. Any one know what the cause of this is?? Thanks for the input BL.

Lack of light getting to the retina with tiny, tiny pupils and a lot of opioids have some degree of anticholinergic activity, which leads to a lack of accomodation of the lens (it doesn't change shap as well to focus object near by or far away).

If you've ever had an old style antihistamine, a tricyclic antidepressant or decided to find out what sort of a trip belladonna, henbane etc produces, you'll know all to well about 'lack of accomodation' & having blurred vision for days! :)

Remember the scene in Drugstore where they swap some morphine for some speed? The buyer comments 'I can't see straight on that stuff'. I think it's pretty common knowledge...

Yes, I get that. It's even worse if you are nodding and go to sleep.

Also, has anybody had the pins & needles effect in their hands?

once we had a conversation in rehab that you actually are seeing better on heroin... some old guy told us he's friend used to tell that when he's reading a newspaper on heroin, he sees it like in a theater in front of him, but when he's clean, he can not read...

it's actually the opposite... i don't remeber myself experience on that, but i guess it's your eyes shaking or crossing a bit while fucked up on opiates so you can't focus...
