Title pretty much sums up my question. Although this question may not belong in BDD, so I am not sure.

But I notice a lot of you especially in the US are getting ENORMOUS amounts of opiates prescribed + a ton of Benzo's, and I also notice that a lot of you are quite young and getting prescribed huge doses of opiates.

I am not trying to be a dickhead or anything, but do you REALLY actually need that many Opiates prescribed?

Like I notice some of you will say "I get something like 240 Roxi 30's a month + 60 40mg Opana ER + 90 2mg Xanax."

Like holy fuck, are you actually in that much pain? Or are you just bullshitting your doctor to get high?

I can see if you are in your 40s or 50s and actually need it. But it is quite sad to see some of you young people like my age (25) being scripted so many opiates + benzo's on top of that.

I've detoxed almost 4 times now from opiates + benzo's and everytime its harder and harder on my body. I think I need to go on Suboxone again, but its impossible to get it prescribed here because of a 3-4 month waiting list. As for the benzo's, well holy shit I wish we had 2mg Xanax bars up here in my Province. No doctors script Xanax here anyway which is sad and frustrating. :!

Most common benzo's prescribed here are definately either Ativan, Clonazepam, or Diazepam and sometimes rarely 0.5mg Xanax only.

So i'm just curious to hear what some of you guys scripts are per month and if you are actually in that much legitimate pain, or just playing the doctor to get high.

Once again, I'm not trying to be rude or a dick or whatever, I'm just curious.

Mods: if this is not the appropriate area for this, then please move it to somewhere will it will fit in on BL.

Thanks.

when i woke up from surgery, they told me the extent of my injuries and that I was on this automatic dialuadid drip, but they would assess daily and see how it went.

i had previous ever taken opiates for purposes of abuse.

and in my case, i did suffer legitimate, extreme trauma. i kept asking for pain management until the pain got under control. eventually, with time and therapy the pain got better naturally. but even now, months later while i'm just beginning to relearn how to work, i definitely need some significant pain relief medication to be able to perform my therapy. otherwise it feels like i'm breaking my bone with every step. it intense.

i wouldn't wish my pain on you, even with your callous, in humane, and WAY too common thought process.

throught this all, I've NEVER taken more than I was prescribed, and volunteered to taper off Oxys and switch over to suboxone.

maybe other people get overprescribed, but i think what's worse is not that people are getting overprescribed but that those scripts are being diverted.

the net of it that people like you are making it much, much harder to get pain medications that none of want to be on but that we need, even though we don't abuse the drugs.

literally, its people like you. my state just passed a law about what meds drs are allowed to prescribe without preapproval.

and you know, they dispense my just enough to the exact day or even hour of meds til my next appt. and my meds cannot be refilled even one day early. so if i chose to abuse them i'd immediately going into serious WDs. no thanks.

so back to my point, now if my doctor wants to give a vicodin for my hurt back - we'd all agree a pretty benign analgesic, he has to get my ins company's preapproval. not the ins company's DR's pre-approval. the adjuster. its sickening.

take any one of those people and put them through what i went and i guarantee the'd quit their inhumane, cruel, and unethical jobs.

Its not people like me at all that are making it harder to get pain medications. I am an Addict myself, it makes no difference. How old are you? Its actually people like you who bitch to the doctor constantly when they don't actually need *THAT* much pain medication. Then the Dr gets in trouble from the College, and in lots of places the Dr loses his/her license for prescribing far too many Narcotics.

^ Don't try and tell me that you never abuse your opiates once in awhile, because thats total Bullshit. Once again, I didn't start this thread for a flame war. 8) I started it because I just wanted to see how many young people are getting scripts for that high of amounts of opiates & benzos and do they ACTUALLY need them? Also, don't try and tell me what its like to constantly go in withdrawal, or to withdraw from a huge dosage of opiates, because bro trust me I know what its like, its not fun. I live it everyday in my life, and it sucks, I am desperately trying to get on a stable pattern where I can ease down and withdraw from the Opiates first, and the Benzo's second.

I am on opana and Roxi, Valium and klonopin. I have had severe anxiety and panic disorder for a long time. I also have a royally fucked up back that even makes the drs cringe.

I get high, but not every day. Being in pain fucking sucks...

Sounds like you're pissed because you can't get the scripts you want.

I hate to say it, but I don't see this thread going anywhere but a flame war.

This sort of thing is better suited for your blog, we don't condone bragging about scripts here for that very reason, or bragging about how somebody got their doctor to script them something, etc. There's no harm reduction value in it.
