Hope this is the correct place to post this question. I haven't done a lot of posting here That said....

I was wondering if anyone who has personal experience with oxycodone withdrawl might be able to lend some advice. I've read lots of info on it, but most of it sticks to the assumption that you either use daily, bing once ni awhile, or intermittently use. The problem is that even the intermittent examples I've come across seem to mean use a day, don't use three days, use two days, never longer periods of time.

So, I want to quit using. At least for awhile. I have been using in small chunks of time over a long period of time. Generally I'll use a bit more heavily at the beginning of the month and then little to non later in the month. Specifically I generally go through about 30 30mg during the first 1-2 weeks in the month and then not at all for the next 2 - 3 1/2 weeks. At any rate, I almost always get through my supply within the first two weeks of the month. Sometimes 10 day.

The point is that Every month, I go through a period of at least two weeks without using a crumb. Some months, three weeks. And so far, even at the very end of a dry spell, I haven't experienced anything anymore intense than mild to moderate diareahha diarrhea and some sleeplessness and bit of reslessness. Teh diarrhea usually onsets about three days after I stop using, hits moderately hard for a day or two and by the fourth day after getting it (about the sixth day after the last dose.)

What can I expect. As it stand now, by the end of two weeks or so, I'm usually feeling better than ever save for some restlessness and intermittent insomnia (but I've always teen an insomniac anyway. And I do mean good. Energetic, pretty good mood, more productive than I am "normally", etc.
Oh, I guess I do get the occasional craving. I'll even go double check my stash to make sure I didn't miss one, but when it's not there (and it never is), I'm fine. I just go back to doing whatever I was doing.

So, any advice? Did I not yet touch the tip of the iceberg yet? And if so, can I "curb" it by taking maybe 7.5 mg and then just waiting for the symptoms again, pushing through them awhile and then rinse and repeat? Again, if so (tempering symptoms with a small dose) will the symptoms eventually become less and less each time as my body get's used to having less each time?

Sorry for being so wordy. Just figured that the more details I provided, the more likely someone who has experienced something similar will be able to contribute. Essentially, I've been doing this for I think about a year. Maybe a little longer. And as of now (amazingly enough), nobody knows. They would have confronted me. And since I just don't like it that much anymore (doing out of habit more than anything), I'd just like to give it up and stick to my childhood favorie (good ol' green herb) when I'm in the mood to change up my brain a litte bit.

Any insight from those who know, and have experience with the matte, would be tremendously appreciated. And no offense to anyone who tries to be helpful, but I would prefer if you allowed experienced users to front me this answer. It's hard enough to figure out what's true for yourself personally without sorting through "I heards", "my friend...." and God forbid" wiki excerpts". I guess I'm a bit afraid that this is going to be way harder than I originally suspected. So I would really like to hear from people who've been there and won't play it up or down with dramatics or speculation.

A truckload of thanks ahead of time.

So your saying you dose around 60mg/day for 2 weeks, and then take nothing for 2-3 weeks? Shouldn't you already know what to expect since you go for multiple weeks at a time without it?

Severity of w.d depends on how long and how much you've been using. Plus everyone's bodies are different. I don't remember where but theres a thread open about the body becoming used to w,d over long periods of time, but I'm too lazy to look for it.

Anything you experience in the first week of w.d is the worse it'll get. I think that's what you wanted to know right? Symptoms of w.d can be sleeplessness, diarrhea, muscle aches, restless legs, loss of appetite, cold sweats, chills, fluctuating body temperature, increased heart rate, decrease in mood motivation and lack of energy and anxiousness. There might be more but that's the sceme of it.

I think you'll get better results posting in other drugs or the opiate w.d mega threads. You could also ask a mods to move the thread to a better location

Good luck

I had read at two seperate medical sites that the worst withdraws won't necessarily begin until week three with long term use. It's because I haven't gone over three weeks without that I don't know what to expect.

When I say I saved some, I only save a single, 30 mg. The other 870 mg was used during the first week and a half of the month this month. Normally it's used up within the first two weeks, give or take. So generally, an average of 60 - 80 mg/day for the first part of the month and then nothing for the rest. But never longer than three weeks without. Actually a bit less than three weeks since their arn't 5 full weeks in a month. So roughly 2.5 without.

An I don't actually take 2 per day, it's more like 5 one day while awake for a day and a half. Then sleep for half a day +. Wake, use three over 14 hours, sleep for 10. Mess up schedule, so taking the 900mg during the first two weeks in large, binge sessions.

So if you have done something similar and/or gone through w/d yourself then your word is the best I have to go on. And thanks. Otherwise, would be great if someone could verify whether or not it's possible that I haven't begun to really experience w/d symptoms until I go in excess of 3 weeks for the first time. And if so, will taking small, periodic doses every few days help with the symptoms?

I've never heard of waiting 3 weeks to start feeling w.d and I've w.d plenty of times. The whole concept behind withdrawling is once the drug starts to leave your system your body reacts to it. opiates take 2-3 days to leave your system, so I dk why they would say you won't feel anything for 3 weeks. I've never heard that from anyone nor experienced it myself. You should start being in w.d 24-48 hours after your last dose.

Obviously taking the drug that's causing your w.d will cause the symptoms to subside, but your really just prolonging it. People also do tapers so they're bodY becomes less dependent over time, but that doesn't make sense for you since you go 2 weeks every month without it. I just got off a 9 month opiate habit and I'm reaching 2 weeks clean and I'm pretty much good. I had w.d the first 5-7 days and after that things started going back to normal

If your serious about getting clean then I wouldn't continue to dose opiates, even small doses, during w.d. All your doing is lowering the standard of whqt you will and will not do to make yourself feel good, and thats how you got into this mess to begin with, for most people it's inevitable theyll end up in a worse situation than last time b.c of a relapse

Perfect. Thank you. That's exactly the kind of "hand holding" info I was looking for. And I should have worded that better - regarding the tapering off I mean. Fortunately, I'm pretty good about addiction in general. I fact, I have access to a great deal more free oxy. I just take home 30/mo because I suspect that's enough. I get paranoid about wrecking my body too much. (I know, a bit hypocritical from someone who uses in the first place, but some line is better than no line I figure.) With the exception of cigarettes, I don't really get much in the way of psychological addiction. When I use something new, (well new to me), I can use it for awhile, decide I'm not interested anymore and just sort of walk away.

I was more worried about the physical withdrawls. While I won't necessarily feel that "I need it" feeling, I'm still just as susceptible as the next guy to physical discomfort. This is why I inquired about the effect of taking the occasional, smaller dose. Was wondering if each small dose would help symptoms and permit me to taper down the physical w/d or if as with some chemicals, it would completely renew the severity of w/d regardless of dosing. Thanks for the reassurances.

I appreciate your feedback. And am glad to hear that I have little to be concerned about with regards to physical w/d symptoms save a bit of sleeplessness. I'm sure I'll revisit oxys again in the future, just too much going on atm and too many people who are suddenly depending on me to risk being sky high at the wrong moment. For the time being anyway.

Thanks again Wolf - exactly what I needed.

No doubt

In terms of redosing, I mean if your like 12 hours into w,d and you redose then, yeah your gonna start off basically back where you were, unless you take a very small dose something like 5-7mg. But if you continue doing that, your body will eventually stabilize on that dose, and eventually you'll have w.d when stopping that dose. Personally I don't think you should taper for more than a week.

I have in the past w.d for a few days and would then dose 30-60mg once I was able to pick up again, and did that on and off thing for a while, and all I can say about that is your just dragging it on. If you can make it 2 weeks without feeling so bad, then just do it cold turkey. It's the fastest way to get it out of your system
