Opiate Withdrawal Symptom Relief

Tomorrow I am about to begin going through withdrawals from mostly Morphine and a lil heroin (I've cut down my heroin use to once or twice a week and only 20 or 30$ at a time). My morphine dose is generally between 150 to 200mg a day but I've been trying to cut that down too.

I've been through withdrawals before but only either in jail where I had no choice or twice in detox where they medicated me. Which brings me to my question. I am not sure what it is exactly they give you in detox. I think colondine and flexeril are two of them. Whatever it is it definitely helps. It make me sleep and makes me not feel the body aches which for me is the worst symptom.

So I'm hoping someone could tell me which medications they generally give and which ones are the ones that make it so I don't feel the body aches. Cause if I can get those taken care of then I can make it through the 6 or 7 days of withdrawals no problem.

Usually by the 8th day the pain and insomnia is gone which are really the only two major symptoms I get. The insomnia is due to the pain since I hurt so bad I can't sit still long enough to sleep more then 45min. So if I take care of one then I won't have the other.

This is the Thomas method. It is extremely helpful for detoxing. This is only the first stage in beating the opiate addiction, as this only helps with the dependence.

In order to be free from addiction you need a recovery plan. AA and NA are the most prolific, but there are plenty more to choose from. Remember, it is good to be abstinent, but sobriety is a state of mind.

Goodluck I am cheering for you!

My Dr gave me colondine, flexeril, and Librium. I prefer my Xanax though so I have never tried the Librium. He said take them and sleep. I don't usually sleep much. The cravings and restless legs are the worst part for me. I took a colondine and I didn't really think it helped me with sleep OR the rls but maybe I didn't take enough.... I used one of those muscle stimulating machines on my left leg and that seemed to help the most. It would turn off on its own, I'd wake up, turn it back on and fall to sleep again. Worth a try if you have that problem. 35 bucks at Walmart.
