I'm sure these type of threads have been done 8746897648976 times here, but I am hoping to get some feedback on my situation.

Brief history;

Drank heavily in college 1995-99 (and pot, LSD, etc), Alcoholic from 1999-2009. Don't drink anymore bc of health issues. Have been through alcohol withdrawal MANY times. Lots of drug experimenting throughout 94-04.

Opiates most recent;

Started Roxi and OC occasionally in 2008, but it was progressing quickly.
2009 was taking both steadily through the year, then daily from Oct > Feb 2010 (5 months - 60 mg day)
Stopped in Feb 2010. Clean til May.
May 2010 > Nov 2010 on both daily again (7 mos - 120 mg day).
Stopped in Nov. Clean til April.
April 2011 > August 2011 on daily again (5 mos - 80-100 mg day). Stopped from August to Oct.
Oct 2011 > July 2012 = Suboxone (purchased from friend, 8 mg day)

I stopped Suboxone on July 18th, kind of weening myself down from 8mg to 2mg before I quit.

After I ran out of Sub I had 14 40mg OP that i chopped up into quarters. I took 3 a day from July 20 > Aug 6th.

On Aug 7th I had a medical procedure. Got 24x 7.5mg Hydros after. Took those from 7th to the 12th. Aug 13th = OUT of everything.

So, today is day 13 of being off everything. I have had Xanax to take as needed, and have plenty. Trying no to abuse. 1mg/day max. I have had no crazy sweating, vomiting, insomnia, even panic, but I am EXTREMELY dehydrated and I have absolutely NO ENERGY to do anything. Even now at day 13. It doesn't seem to be improving. I am also very dizzy and out of it mentally. Very irritable.

Last week on Weds/Thurs (day 3/4) I can say I might have felt even better than I do now.

I have been forcing eating, drinking water/Powerade, little vitamins since I went off the Hydro but I am CRAZY dehydrated and weak. I am drinking water/Gatorade/etc all day every day.

I started drinking Boost this week to supplement meals, and I bought more vitamins (Multi, B-Complex) and Magnesium/calcium today.

Anyway, my biggest question is; the DEHYDRATION...WTF??? I haven't read about dehydration being such a big issue. Also, the weakness and lack of energy is probably just PAWS, but most accounts I have read say day 13 is much better, but I don't feel better. I feel like sh@t!!! So weak, dehydrated, and depleted. No energy. Day 13 feels no better than day 5.

Alcohol withdrawal was much different. Much worse at the beginning in regards to anxiety, panic, insomnia, sweating, shaking, etc...but after those first 3-4 days I would start to come out of it. By Day 7-8 would be pretty much back and feeling better. Not 100%, but improved. I know opiate withdrawal is not linear with steady improvement, but it just seems like after 13 days I would feel somewhat back to normal, but I don't.

*

So anyway, feedback and discussion would be appreciated. I have read a lot of things online about this and assume most is just my body and mind recovering, but I feel like I should be further along at day 13. Especially the dehydration stuff. I don't get that.

Any convo/questions/opinions are welcome. Sorry for the boring/common topic. Thx...

So, 130 views and no replys.

Is it because...

1. Petty standard stuff - nothing to worry about. 13 days is great. Just keep it up, your body and mind will eventually heal...???

or

2. Never heard of massive dehydration and always felt great after 13 days. You must have F'd something in your head permanently...???

or

3. Your story is just not interesting enough to respond to. Sack up, shut up, and ride it out. You're fine.

The dehydration could be due to the fact that opiates cause water retention. Perhaps your body will take extra time to adjust to normal rates/levels of water retention. Other than that you are doing everything right with vitamins and food.

LOL--love your second post, FunkyMonk.:D Unfortunately I have no experience whatsoever with what you are going through but I just wanted to pop in and say be patient; people will respond. I have one question about your dehydration. Have you spoken to the doctor about it? You don't even have to say anything about the withdrawals if you don't feel comfortable but dehydration can be a symptom of many things (some pretty serious) so if it persists I would let a doctor know. Maybe it is coinciding with WDs and has nothing to do with them. Worth checking out.

Opiate withdrawals are one of the most difficult..
Just keep doing what you're doing, you've gone through the worst of it. As for the dehydration, I do remember that I was drinking excessive amounts of fluids consisting of sprite, whole milk, and water. I think I was drinking so much, because I couldn't really eat. I hate no appetite, yet my body had to take in something, which came to fluids. When you hit your days sober in the 20's-30's mark, you will completely forget about counting, and sobriety will become the norm. I beleive that after a month, most of the psych addiction goes away. But, from personal experience, at around 2 months, I started getting intense cravings and I would have dreams of using oxycodone and feeling the high. I had a few days in that 2 month mark, where I ws considerably close to breaking and buying pills. I didn't. I'm almost at my 4 month mark, and it isn't even a thing to me anymore. Just stick it out.

As for xanax, I did use xanax to help me during the physical withdrawals with the restlessness and the inability to sleep. It didn't help even half of the symptoms. I did not acquire any dependency to xanax, with no withdrawals... even while doing 10mgs a day for almost 2 weeks straight. Maybe that's just me. Everyone says watch out for xanax during withdrawals, you could move from one habit to another.. but it never really affected me. I dropped xanax like it was nothing.

Agree with above poster. The paws can last for a while and I also had drug dreams when coming off opiates. I had been prescribed oxycodone for several years and when I decided it was time to stop the withdrawal was harsh. But xanax was an even worse withdrawal. So be careful using that. It takes some time for your body to adjust so keep yourself hydrated. Eventually your appetite will come back. Wish you the best!

heya.

considering you've had an alcohol problem in the past too - i'd try and kick the xanax as quickly as you can. it will end up doing much more harm than helping you.

but anyway, congratulations on being clean for 13 days!

the reason that you're experiencing a long drawn out withdrawal is because bupe has a very long half life unfortunately. it's a real bitch - but it will eventually clear out and you'll start making progress in the right direction to living a better drug free life.

if you're taking in a lot of sugar/sugary drinks try and cut them out (in terms of dehydration) and replace them with electrolyte replacing fluids without sugar in them - lucozade do them i believe.

you also have to make sure you're eating a balanced, healthy and even diet. if you're struggling to force it down, and you haven't eaten a a lot, force it! you need to eat.

keep going pal. you're so close now.

congratulations once again from me, and i presume all the bluelight posters too :)

Thanks a lot, all.

Day 15 today, 2 full weeks.

Yeah, I'm only taking the Xanax 2-3 times a day, .25-.5mg each time = 1 mg max per day. Just when I'm feeling very anxious. There have been a few days I haven't really needed any, but I do take it to help sleep.

Thanks for all the tips. I am pretty much doing everything the right way in regards to drink and food. Just water, Power/Gator, even Pedialyte. My alcoholism made me a hydration expert. Eating healthy.

I am still pretty weak, depleted, blah. That hasn't improved. Not as dehydrated as before, but it's still there. Still chugging pretty much all day.

The no freaking energy drives me nuts. That's the worst. I can work and make it through the day but I am just DRAGGING 24/7. I assume that just takes time.

Since I took other opiates for 3 weeks after I ended the Suboxone, I was kindof wondering - what am I even withdrawaling from?? The 7 mos of Suboxone, or the Oxy/hydro?? I figured these affects are from the Suboxone bc in the past when I quit I didn't feel this weak, depleted, dehydrated, etc. Something is different.

Or maybe it's just the past 4-5 years of 'off and on' catching up with me. Getting older too, not as quick to recover.

15 days tho....feeling better...

Thanks again.

congrats on your two weeks! I am on day 6 and I am still feeling bad too. I think it may have been the immodium I took at the beginning, I think it extended w/ds. I noticed the last few days my lips are chapped really bad and I am very dehydrated too. I have been taking lots of vitamins and gatorade...but...I have also been drinking way too much redbull and 5 hr energy drinks. These seem to be helping with my energy although I don't know how bad it is to drink right now. I bet the xanax is what is zapping your energy.

I've kicked opiates twice, this last one was a 600mg per day habit.
I too cannot stand the lethargy, especially because my work depends on me being high energy. It makes it hard not to pop a pill and feel great again.

I take a lot of supps to help:
Tyrosin 2-4,000mg split up evenly with B6
Magnesium Taurate
Idebenone
Theanine
Nicotine gum (as long as you can control yourself and not get hooked on those)

Get lots of exercise and rest. Eat lots of fruit and veggies, specifically kiwis and blueberries and other nutrient dense foods.

I have a list of drugs that can help ease withdrawal, but I am not sure if that is appropriate to suggest. Let me know if it is ok.

Good luck.

You're doing really well funky.. Posts like yours really inspire me. Withdrawal is such a lonely process isn't it. I'm facing it too, and with 2 jobs to hold down and lots of dependants (horses, not kids!) to look after I'm a tad frightened.

Congrats man i have no experience with bupe, but i am a little over a month clean from a substantial oxy habbit. I am just now starting to feel normal and oxy doesnt have a long ass halflife like bupe, so it could go on for a while but just keep your eyes on the prize. Good luck!

I recommend ordering some kambo. I've heard from people that claimed kambo wiped out their opiate withdrawal symptoms. Also, I recommend switching from xanax to gabapentin and clonidine ASAP. That combo will alleviate all your symptoms but you won't end up addictive to them like xanax.

That's exactly what I was thinking it could be. First sign for a lot of folks. Read up on diet for diabetes--it is not what most people think. It is very manageable with diet. Still, it sucks. I'm sorry but I am really glad you found out what it was.<3
