Opiate withdrawal after just five days?

Hi all,

I am in what I believe to be my first withdrawal experience from opiates. I've played with them for years, but at a maximum of two days in a row. This last week, I used BTH Monday through Wednesday then switched to an OP 80 per day on Thursday and Saturday (Friday was an off day). Sunday evening, I began to have severe temperature fluctuations/sweating and had some insomnia.

I'm at T+84 hours from last dose now, and seem to have plateaued. I am just blown away that I could have a withdrawal from what seems like such little use. Is this normal?

Here are the symptoms I've had / am having:

Aching muscles / sharp shooting pains in bones
Total lack of appetite
Insomnia
Large swings in body temperature (feel freezing and an hour later I'm sweating like crazy)
Few bowel movements
Dizziness
Headache (pretty bad, worse when I move)
Fatigue (minor)
Tiring easily (out of breath going up a couple flights of stairs)

I guess my most important question is - assuming I am actually withdrawaling and don't just have cancer or something - when can I expect this crap to be over?

I thought 72 hours would be plenty but I'm into day four now and still need ibuprofen+clonazepam to keep me functioning normally at work.

Withdrawal should start to subside soon. Some withdrawal symptoms mimic an actual illness (such as influenza), so it may just be coincidental timing.

Thanks - so experiencing this from such a small amount of use is fairly typical?

I guess my biggest fear is just having any sort of PAWS. I already have some issues with anxiety.

Those are all classic withdrawal symptoms to the letter...

Even if you've never had withdrawal before, the brain doesn't forget this class of chemical very easily... If you've been messing with opiates for years, any sudden prolonged use (more than a few days) can trigger withdrawal fairly easily...

Nope, that's accurate. Which I was surprised by considering everything I've read says "diarrhea". Odd.

The only other symptom I'm having is pain where my spleen and liver are when I inhale... maybe I should actually go to a doctor.

Yeah wd symptoms forsure, should feel better in next day or two if u stay off it

Just an FYI for folks - I ended up feeling progressively worse today, so I went to the doc. Stuff started to not add up with w/d as much and I was getting concerned. I've been running a fever of 102F for 4 days now. The doc is pretty convinced it's actually some sort of insect-borne virus.

So, be careful and get blood tests done if you're not sure 100% what's going on.

I was kind of amazed that once-a-day use of those drugs, with a break on friday even, could cause such symptoms. I'll update when I find out more, just for the sake of the record.

OH! Here's the kicker - the doc prescribed me hydrocodone to "help me sleep" with the virus. I don't have any desire to eat them so not worried about it. I'll be saving those for a rainy day.

It's quite possible that you got legitimately sick, but the symptoms were made worse because you were going through a mild WD.

Amazing that you had few bowel movements. I need to know your secret for the next time I have wds. Everything else sounded completely normal for wds. OP wds usually hit pretty hard and fast too.

I 100% agree with Carl Landrover, imo you were definitely going through some WD's because those symptoms are classic signs of WD. If I use opies for 3 days, once a day like you, I will withdraw for a week, and obviously not as bad as it gets but still bad enough for me to not want to leave the house and feel like absolute shit. Also for me constipation lingers unti day 2-3 of full-on WD and the fact that you dont usually use every day means your bowels are still probaby pretty good.

Sorry to hear you got sick also mate, that would suck. Yeah I dont think id be going near those hydro's, you dont want to end up back at day one considering youve gone this far. Good luck ;)

MsPilly: my trick is that I likely had very minimal withdrawal. It was about 40mg of Oxycodone and ~200mg of BTH used over the course of five days, with a one day break in there.

Hopefully someone has the answer to this: is there a known reaction in a Complete Blood Count to opiate withdrawal. For example, do you often see a drop in White Blood Counts or an increase in monocytes or something to that effect? My panels were all whacked, adding even more to the likelihood that I am just experiencing a severe virus. But I would LOVE to know if there are markers in a CBC for strict withdrawal only.

EDIT: Regardless, I agree that staying away from the hydros is a good idea. They're sitting here right next to me but it's not a problem :)

What is BTH :?

Also...to be able to sit next to a full bottle of Hydros and not have that urge, I applaud you. I can't even........................... The problem for me would be me sitting next to an EMPTY bottle of Hydros.

Withdrawal after 5 days of use is normal. I experienced withdrawal for the first time after 5 days of heroin. It sucked but it only lasted 2 days. I have never used opiates for more than a week at a time, giving myself at least a week before I pick up again, but now I experience the same or worse withdrawals after only 3 days of use. 2 if Im using fake china white h (some sort of fent).

Pretty normal, especially with a history of abuse. Usually it will be over quick though. Also, if you have been through withdrawal before you will pick up on the symptoms quicker, just part of the deal sadly. This is not just with opiates either, most physically addicting drugs hook a previous user quicker.
