At what rate does a tolerance accumulate to opiates? Say if I did a 20mg oxy once or twice a week would a tolerance build fast even if it was only once a week? Or does tolerance happen by daily continuous use (ie. each day)? Also opiates are cross-tolerant correct?

I would think that you could do 20 mg of oxy 1-2 times a week without a tolerance building too rapidly. Even doing it every other day will slow tolerance development. It's the daily continuous use, as you said, that leads to truly rapid tolerance development.
Opiates are cross-tolerant, yes.

I was able to use 15-20mgs of oxycodone no more than twice a week for months before my tolerance really started building.
As said above, it's when more frequent use occurs that your tolerance starts building... but build fast it does.

sonar be careful cause once or twice a week will end up everyday. thats how i got hooked on oxys. it started out at 1-2 times a week. then 3 times a week. then everyday. i couldnt do anything unless i did an oxy first. it sucked royally. i was up to about 2 or 3 80's a day. i have been off for about 7 months now. i did get into dilaudids for a few months, but this was 5 months ago. i wouldnt do more than a 20mg pill a week. better yet i wouldnt even do them. its a hard drug to kick. being dopesick is the worst. the good doesnt override the bad when it comes to opiates. good luck

Opioids are cross-tolerant, mostly but not completely. There is some benefit in switching between say oxy and heroin; I don't think it's generally all that large though.
I've found that once or twice weekly opioid use will cause a small tolerance buildup (if you're doing enough to hit you hard, put you near the nod level) but isn't too bad. Anything more frequently and your tolerance will start to go up fast. And additionally I've noticed the drugs become much less euphoric when doing them at a high frequence (once day/two days), regardless of dose.

to kristofire,
How long did it take you to get off the oxy. Did you taper or go cold turkey. Did you use any valium or anything. How long and HOW PAINFUL was the withdrawl,
Did you have anxiety or panic attacks..
thanks in advance I really need some advice ...

Zorn, not only do you lose the euphoria when you're using opiates frequently, daily or moreso multiple times a day. But also when your tolerance gets passed a certain point, it seems like you just won't get much euphoria anymore. I can go over a week without using now and it really does me no good. My tolerance is so high that after the first two shots I really won't buzz unless I wait a few days again.

Opiates never work out once or twice a week. At first it starts out that way but after a month your tolerance begins to build up. The end result is you using more on a daily basis...

well 2 times a week lead to everyday use for me when it comes to oxys. i would say 1 or 2 times a week will lead to more frequent use. your body will need more to get off. say you do a 20mg twice a week. well in a couple weeks you will need a 40mg to get the same effects. be careful with oxys. iw as hooked for 2 years. started out once or twice a week. its easy to fall in love with.
