when i take opiates i feel bad like real dizzy and almost hallucinating like a nightmare also there is a real strong histamine release in waves that feels bad what do i do if i have surgery again?

You're probably allergic, unfortunately. A synthetic opiod like Fentanyl or something may not produce this reaction, but I'm not certain (the doctors will know, in fact other people on here will for sure). Otherwise you may be stuck with some of the crappy pain medication like Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen. I'm not sure if the opiate allergy is due to the structure/chemical compound, or the actual opiate receptor activity though, so I can't say for sure if Fentanyl et al would work.

EDIT

An anti histamine like Benadryl/Diphenhydramine may actually fix this completely from what I'm reading about opiate allergies.

i have taken vicoden, codeine, tramadol, and darvon also percocet arent some of those synthetic?

i have had Fentanyl injeted iv pre-op and it had the least side effects but mabye because it was iv? ijected drugs have always has less bd effect on me.

do u think morphine would be good or bd for me?

i have treied Benadryl/Diphenhydramine but they dont help

Morphine would be the absolute worst choice. It has the most side effects including but not limited to very strong histamine reactions and nausea...and this is for people who are not allergic to most opiates/opiods.

Stick with oxycodone, oxymorphone, and fentanyl for the least amount of side effects.

i though morphine didnt require any enzymes to metabolize and was recommended for people with codeine allergies/problems ect?

I'm not exactly sure if this would work, but it's worth a shot. You listed a fuck load of pain killers there huh? All bad? Ok, mail them straight to me, and I'll shoot you a gram or two of ketamine. That's unlikely to have the same problem and you definitely be able get to a no pain point. :D

Seriously though, this is a much better discussion to have with your doctor, hell they almost always know a good back up in case the main doesn't work or causes problems.

morphine and codeine will cause the worst side effects
try methadone or fentanyl. Also, if you go the route of methadone START OFF AT EXTREMELY LOW DOSES or you might end up in the hospital.

Absolutely. I would suspect that methadone and fentanyl would probably be among the safest. Tramadol should be just as safe, but it has it's own oddities.

Methadone isn't a safe choice just because if you do have a problem or hypersensitivity the dosing can be so complicated. Don't get me wrong: dosing with fentanyl is a major issue too, but if you go a little over with that (and I mean a little in the tiny tiny relative terms here) you're not suffering the effects for 24+ hours.

edit: thinking more I would say to start with tramadol. Suggesting someone to go to methadone and fentanyl as 'safe' choices is quite backwards, I think. Sorry for the temporary insanity. You say you've already tried tramadol. How did that go?

If tramadol wasn't okay, I'd suggest avoiding opiates altogether.
