Morphine would be the absolute worst choice. It has the most side effects including but not limited to very strong histamine reactions and nausea...and this is for people who are not allergic to most opiates/opiods.
Stick with oxycodone, oxymorphone, and fentanyl for the least amount of side effects.

i though morphine didnt require any enzymes to metabolize and was recommended for people with codeine allergies/problems ect?morphene

Seriously though, this is a much better discussion to have with your doctor, hell they almost always know a good back up in case the main doesn't work or causes problems.SpunkySkunk347

try methadone or fentanyl. Also, if you go the route of methadone START OFF AT EXTREMELY LOW DOSES or you might end up in the hospital.Hammilton

Methadone isn't a safe choice just because if you do have a problem or hypersensitivity the dosing can be so complicated. Don't get me wrong: dosing with fentanyl is a major issue too, but if you go a little over with that (and I mean a little in the tiny tiny relative terms here) you're not suffering the effects for 24+ hours.
edit: thinking more I would say to start with tramadol. Suggesting someone to go to methadone and fentanyl as 'safe' choices is quite backwards, I think. Sorry for the temporary insanity. You say you've already tried tramadol. How did that go?
If tramadol wasn't okay, I'd suggest avoiding opiates altogether.
