i am a 10+ yr opiate addict :X just the last 3-4 yrs using IV heroin and etc.
i was on 100mg methadone for 1.5 yrs and had to stop cold turkey. :!
worst withdrawals ever!!! got four 8mg Subutex generic tabs ... spreading them out, breaking off small quarter pieces (2mg) to take at each dose. I find I'm dosing about every 6 hours on Day 1 of withdrawal. I chose to wait until after I started to kick to use the Subu but not waiting until it was too badly set in. its ALWAYS easier to keep the sick off ahead of time rather then waiting too long into withdrawal onset, always easier to stay ahead of pain rather than try and play catch up! but either way, as long as you wait until about 6-24 hours after your last opiate use to take subutex that should work OK and you wont go into worse withdrawal at all, quite the opposite.. i wouldnt stay on it longer than a couple weeks and wouldnt start at a higher dosage unless absolutely needed. its a miracle drug for what it does for an opiate withdrawal! IV'ing is easy and fun BUT definitely HARD on the "pipes"! i blew a vein that ive used for years after shooting a small amount twice!!

????any experienced use as a short term detox aid? (3-7 days)????? please lmk

I have used subs as a short term w/d. The first time, I dropped completely off in 3 days. Suboxone is a wolf in sheep's clothing though, actually it's the devil himself in sheep's clothing. It is a miracle drug for kicking the first few times. The first time, I had no problems on the 4th day, and I only took one 8mg tablet after being in w/d for 24 hours. Unfortunately, like everyone else, I slid right back into it b/c I figured I had found this miracle drug that would help me kick opiates anytime I wanted too. So after the Umphundreth time I've used sub to w/d it doesn't do a whole heck of a lot anymore. My method now is to get the tablets, and I actually just snort a teeny tiny bit. Literally, a line about like this ------ actual size. I do two the first day, one in the morning, one 2 hours before bed. The second day, I try to cut down on one, depending on how bad my binge was, I may need the one before bed too. On the 3rd day, I do one before bed. Then I leave the option open for one before bed on the 4th day if need be. I will then switch to a mild benzo dose for days 5 and 6, and this is only because I have absurd amounts of anxiety all the time now from all the opiate abuse. At this point though, I make no bones about it... Suboxone is no miracle drug, there is just as much hell to pay from it as anything else at this point. It does spare you the stomach cramps, and trots... sometimes.... it doesn't even dodge all that anymore for me. My current method is to just force myself to take at least 4 days off each week. It sucks, and I usually fall back on taking a xanax or something (again with the terrible anxiety, hope it doesn't happen to you). It may seem like control, but I am very unhappy 4 days of the week.

I know people have no faith in this but I swear by it now... kratom
I was on OC 160-320mg/day for two years. I had tried numerous times to quit cold turkey and always relapsed on day 3... one of the hardest things ever, that and benzos, but one day around 3 months ago I decided enough was enough, I had also looked for something to help with WD's that was not subs or methadone or any of that shit... I stumbled upon kratom and decided to buy a sack and quit CT.
Well, I flushed my pills one day and started. The withdrawals came and as soon as my legs started to hurt, I took around 8g of kratom, the leg pain stopped and I could sleep... the withdrawals didnt go away completely, but allowed me to be more comfortable, which is the point. So I did that every day for 6 days, each day lowering the kratom dose, and by the end of the 6th day I was actually feeling pretty good. For me, kratom saved me life. The WD's were NOTHING compared to the other times I tried. I have yet to relapse and it's been 3 months. TBH I don't want to see another OC in my life, I don't even crave them anymore.

Hope that helps.... GL

This has been talked about in the Suboxone Mega Thread, but I'll move this to TDS because I have a feeling you may be better off there.

definitely thought you meant you were like an 11 year old opiate addict when i first read that, and was completely freaked out and was ready to go hardcore rage on you for messing up your life before you have a chance to realize how much it'll really suck on opiates, however, firstly...

I don't IV anything but morphine and smack. I don't trust myself with that sort of instant satisfaction, it's way too nice..
secondly, here's what i do for short term detox:

1. take my last smaller dose, saving a few for later, thinking i'll just be conservative with the rest
2. end up not getting as high as i wanted / not getting the pain relief i wanted
3. take one or two more pills
4. get higher than i wanted and spend the rest of the day blowing away everything i had...

then this is the part that's pertinent to you.

5. i wake up, feel like shit.
6. i go take a long hot shower after shitting my brains out and taking some anti-diarrhea meds (OTC) i have lying around because this tends to happen to me fairly regularly
7. in the shower i massage the parts of my body that are the tensest / most painful
8. i put heating pads / cooling pads on my legs and generally any of my area that hurts (it makes me look kinda goofy but hey, it helps)
9. i make desperate phonecalls knowing that no one will have any for another 3 or 4 days, generally to no avail, though if you can find any sort of benzo it helps
10. i beat myself up mentally and am left in a rough depression
11. i take the benzo if i got it, soma and cyclobenzaprine being the best for this imho
12. i also take some OTC sleeping meds (though not too many mind you)
13. i repeat 11 and 12, continuing to apply heating pads and cooling pads to basically all parts of my body, esp my legs (restless legs are a bitch) and continuing to take anti-diarrhea meds
14. 4 days are up, i get more meds, and am fine for a few weeks or months until i go though steps 1-13 again.

however, that's just me. there are many opiate detox links online, and one has a specific name and is mentioned often, i would try that one if you don't like mine, or don't want to take any benzos. :) also - try not to smoke any cigarettes, they just make the diarrhea worse, and you have to go outside looking like a medical experiment that just woke up from anesthesia due to all the things on your body and being half asleep due to the sleeping meds and/or benzos.

Are you asking specifically about using suboxone to taper off, or aids to rapid detoxes in general? Can't help with the first, posted something on this thread on the latter that may be of use? I tried to avoid anything strong enough to sufficiently substitute for Heroin in a way that interfered with the detox or gave me something else to rattle off. Was generally still DiHyrodocodeine ((( DF118s ))) and methadone that was routinely given out when I came off, only ever opting for the DF detox once and failing with it when I was prescribed Codeine Phosphate by my local GP instead, probably because that's all he felt knowledgeable enough to offer me. Worked out though. Subutex just starting to be widely prescribed locally to me, so can't comment on that.

Best of luck! ;)
