So, i have a friend of a friend facing addiction to morphine sulfate. Has been shooting about 30-50mgs every 4-6 hours... This friend is beyond ready to get off.. The friend works a full-time job and attends school full-time and missed two days of work/class last week trying to cold turkey, got the shakes/shits/freezingsweats ...you know, the works. Well, would a week of IM doses help this friend wean off just enough to kick the WD symptoms, or should this friend wean with smaller doses of IV? This friend understands that nothing compares to the "instant effect" with IV, but this friend is fucking ready to have a life back, and even the needle entering the vein is a part of the addiction. Waiting on todays dose as long as possible but already toilet bound and shaky. Looking for whether or not IM is a good idea and a possible idea of the next weeks dosage? Friend is down to about 10-15mgs IV 2-3(maybe4) times daily.

Thanks

Hey 110011 and welcome to BL:)

The point of IVing is to receive the instantaneous effects. I would go back to oral before im. Im really will just put yourself in more danger for really nothing positive.

Your like less than five days away from freedom from the physical stuff. Might have PAWS after that for a bit. Morphine has such a short half life that the tunnel your up against is really short.. heavy, but short.

Here are some good medications that could help you ditch the opiates.

medications for acute opiate detox

The medications I would explore the use of for detox would be:
>Clonidine< DOSED EVER FOUR HOURS..

one of either
>NEURONTIN< >HERE< >HERE< >here<
OR >Lyrica<
OR >phenibut<

>A BENZO BUT JUST AT NIGHT<
>a nsaid<
>melatonin<
tylenol
Senokot S is a stool softener and laxative. If you do not want the laxative you can go for strait stool softenerDioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate.

(Opi Withdrawal) what is the best comfort meds for opiate w/d?

Well here is the thing. This friend never began with pills.. It started with recreational morph IV doses once a month maybe, and of course you know the story.. But this friend also lost all connections with ANY opiates, even morph., as friends friend is locked up. Friend has xanax peaches stocked for the shakes, and of course plenty of stomach meds bc its damn near impossible without it. Yes, to friends advantage, the life is short... But its fucking brutal.. Friend actually suffers from congenital shoulder abnormalities along with herniated disk pain, so when friend realized that even small doses daily would give a boost of energy AND pain free, it was easy to validate "taking daily medicine"- you know, the functioning drug addict. But basically the liquid solution is all that friend can work with right now. Friend even went as far as flushing more than half the bottle (sniffles, tear) to limit what is left. Friend is determined and fucking ready to quit this, just need to know an ideal amount of IM doses over the next couple of days... Just enough to get friend through work/school.

Friend just assumed that IM would be better for weaning than IV, but open to any advice. If friend could get pills then friend would absolutely do that, but too risky in the area friend lives and also friends main connection is locked up.

Friend just went 14 hours before dosing, which literally just happened, but had to before 3 classes.. Was experiencing between medium-severe WD symptoms...

So going from up to 60 mgs, sometimes more, IV, every 4-6 hours to..... {insert help here}

Thank you so very much

eat what you plan to iv? if you have gear to im you have gear to eat..am I missing something?

anyway I know all about your pain/attempt to use and function. my entire legs from hips to feet are currently on fire and its taking everything in me not to go grab a bottle of codeine across the street. nowhere near the same level, but i hit doses that mirror what you're doing, albeit not with a needle. thank God i never needled opiates, id be a goner
