So for the last 5years I've been an opiate addict, not because of being prescribed or anything, but just a normal street drug user of prescription opitates. During those 5years, there has been lots of stress and depression and anxiety, and in those 5years my hair has begun to thin a lot, which no one in my family has had that problem, i am only 25, and from what I heard drug addiction, and the fact that being on drugs all the time causes you to have a bad diet cause you dont eat as much and properly nutrition wise, and its just hard on your body, and then all teh stress and anxiety combined with that, can cause hair loss. My question is, if this is true, and if so, then wouldn't it mean that once you got clean and your life back on track, and were healthy again and eating properly and not so stressed out and hard on your body, that your hair would get thicker again and what not.

I'm not 100% on this so don't punch me in the mouth if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure once your hair folicles start dying/die then that's it. On the flipside if you were to turn your life around and get healthy physically and mentally it may slow down or stop the hair loss process, at least until it starts naturally with age

I was seriously injured once in my life where I lost lots of blood and almost died and had multiple lacerations and broken bones and over the next 2-3 months large amounts of my hair fell out all over my head, not in any particular pattern. I would wake up in the morning and my pillow would be covered with hair, when i shampooed and brushed alot would come out, more than usual. My dad once insensitively asked me if I was going bald and I remember how bad I felt. I was 19 at the time and facing all sorts of shit so that was the icing on the cake. After I healed it got better and I'm fairly serious about my diet and all that and I've had girls comment on my hair and such since, it grew back thick. It'll probably grow back unless what you have is genetic. Is it in a typical male baldness pattern? If it's just general thinning it is probaby a temporary health issue. also if you pull a loose hair out, is there a speck of skin on the end? I read if there is that means you are just experiencing stress related hair loss. I dont know how true that is but it gave me some comfort at the time.Take care of your health and you will see.

what is your diet like?? maybe there is some underlying health issue you should get checked out.
