Please feel free to respond to this post or to forward an email to the mods of this forum if you are interested in becoming an OD moderator. 5-ht2 has been doing an excellent job as temporary mod. His position is now officially open, as he will be shifting gears into the psychedelic forum. Please join me in thanking him for his service to this forum during the past few dizzying months here in OD.

Otherdrugs is a very special forum which requires a very special type of mod. Moding OD is a big responsibility, and with it can come with a lot of grief and toil. The right person will posess a patient yet no bullshit attitude who is willing to take the time and effort to help make this as effective and informative as it can be.

I would love a mod position, but am I in no way qualified to the extent that you need someone informatively. I could handle the no bullshit attitude. I say ceryc is a great choice. Ill call him tonight and tell him to post in this thread.

i second the nomination for ceryc . . . . I see him being a bigger help in OD. Great guy too. Just my .02$ Maybe if he gets enough nominations he'll throw his hat in the ring.
 
Throwing my hat into the ring...

My qualifications:

1. I've been on Bluelight for-evah and I have a pretty good idea of how this forum works. When I first came to Bluelight I hung out in OD all the time. I don't come in here as much as I'd like, but I'm on BL for at least a couple hours a day, unless I'm on some sort of lost weekend thing, which happens every now and then.

2. I'm tolerant of hard drug use to the point where I'll have real life arguments with those people who insist you'll end up dead or addicted or like their scary uncle if you touch heroin once. Same with the "drugs are evil" crowd. To be blunt, ignorance pisses me off. I believe that most peoples' perceptions can be challenged and opinions can change, but I hate it when people parrot every guy-gets-hopelessly-addicted-to-drugs movie they've seen.

3. On the other hand, I can see there are people out there whose compulsive or irresponsible behavior with hard drugs can get them into trouble. It's not black and white, of course - a couple I know shoot heroin and live out of a motel room, but they're not robbing people, as far as I know. I realize that most of the "look at what you've become" arguments are wasted, and these people will come to their own conclusions regarding their drug use.

4. I remember OD when less people talked about, say, shooting Effexor. It was hardly tard-free three years ago, but I could do my part to keep that sort of thing to a minimum.

5. I am ready to sign over a substantial portion of my day/life/soul/sanity to mod this forum.

one thing i forgot to mention in my email application is that my forum participation will definately skyrocket if i'm selected :p

i'm just not normally much of a talker, unless i have to be. responsibilities demand change, and i've definately got the time to invest and will do my best! ;)
 
Well, here goes. :)

Though I've been on bluelight for a while, I have not been posting in Other Drugs as long as some other members. Since becoming involved with the forum, however, I've been posting quite regularly, to say the least. I've also seen the ups and downs of the forum over time, as a long time member (I primarily lurked for a few years). I'm well-versed in the policies of the forum as my posts can affirm.

These days, I am pretty much an internet-whore as my frequent posts here demonstrate! I have a fast broadband connection and I usually check bluelight at least twice a day...

As for my background, I have a tremendous amount of personal experience with a variety of 'other drugs'. I've used the most common opiates, virtually every stimulant that exists, most of the benzos, all the GHB analogs, as well as a handful of research chemicals and psychedelics. I also have extensive experience with non-recreational psychoactives, such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and the like.

I'm working towards an MD/PhD so my focus when it comes to drug use is definitely on health and harm reduction. While I have experienced the hedonism of drug use I've also seen its dark side and so I feel I have a fairly balanced view. In addition, my education has provided me with a good basis in neurochemistry and pharmacology.

If I were to join OD's staff, I would like to help drug users realize the health risks of their use and ways which they can use more safely, while providing accurate and enlightening information. I would moderate in a openminded yet forceful manner, upholding the integrity of the forum at all times.

i know my vote doesnt count in here, but i'd fully support Negro-kitty as the new mod (if you dont choose me, of course!). she definately knows her shit :)
 
And another! :)

She's one of those rare people who's posts consistently make me think, "This person should be a moderator."

(Which is not to say CMB or tathra wouldn't be great choices, but they already carry the responsibility of moderating other fora.)

I'd have to vote for Negro-Kitty also, her posts are wonderfully informative and helpful.

(and CMB would be my 2nd choice, but he's already got the mod status)
 
Ummm, didnt i try to accomplish this a month ago????? Anyway im not going to vote for Negro-Kitty since she denied my efforts last time. 5ht2 had some knowledge alot of the mods could not match. Hopefully Dave is back in order soon.

Well, there are 2: Negro-kitty has been selected as the new OD mod. She has truly proven her knowledge of the subject matter through her posts, and has been an active participant on the board. We are excited to have her on board as part of the OD team!

Also, Tathra is being added to the OD team as well! Tathra will be filling in for PhreeX until his return - so please join me in welcoming both Negro-Kitty and Tathra into the halls of OD!
