Opana IR & Avoiding Cotton Fever

Hello All,

Long time reader, this is my first post. So I have a question about cotton fever. My friend gets 10mg Opana IR (generic Roxane brand; small round white pills) each month and what we do is draw up our shots, then put the damp powder aside to dry out for when we run out so we have a good amount of "wash" powder. I've done this with many pills and substances, and before I started using this specific generic oxymorphone [which are potent and badass btw ;-)], I'd been IV'ing for over 13 years. All that time, I got cotton fever maybe 3-5 times. Since using these new pills, I've probably had it at least 5 times in the past 9 months (which is waaaay too frequently for me). My buddy gets it even more frequently.
1)Sooo....when I have my dried "wash powder", how can I kill the bacteria without destroying the chemical? I was thinking the most obvious: microwave radiation, but I don't know how long bacteria need to be microwaved to die or how long oxymorphone can be microwaved before denaturing.

Has anyone else experienced success in microwaving or heating old "wash powder"? If so, how long did you put it in for? I can't heat in spoon because it gets thick and goopy when heat applied. **Please, I don't want any replies saying to use a micron filter. Everyone and their mother says to use them, but in reality, I've seen them only when I worked in a facility that shipped them.

2) For those of you who have used Opana IR or any of the generics, which generic is your favorite? I've gotten KVK Tech, Teva, and Roxane and even though the previous 2 have less filler, I think that the Roxanes are the most potent for sure. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me why my cotton fever today has my lips turn blue, my arms, fingers, shoulder,tongue and lips all went numb.? This is my first time with cotton fever

Cotton fever doesn't do that to me. Symptoms of cotton fever in my experience are severe headache, high fever, severe fatigue, chills, sweating, nausea... The symptoms are similar to being dope sick but the symptoms should disappear with in 2-6 hours. Blue lips and extremities becoming numb sounds like a sign of hypoxia, however i'm not a doctor just a former IV Opiate user DOC Heroin. Please be careful! I've never shot pills I shot the nasty BTH, but even shooting that stuff I didn't have any of these symptoms you're describing and for that reason I think it is a separate complication from cotton fever.

simple: avoid washes. Instead of doing a 10 and getting maybe 7-8mg out of it, do 8, put in 30-50 units of water, repeat 1-2x. No wash, no cotton fever. Use 100unit (1cc or 1mL) needles, and if you wind up with too much water, you can let it evaporate or boil it for a few seconds in the microwave in a shot glass. ps- you cannot microwave cotton, it pops like popcorn. Opana will survive being microwaved so long as you dont boil off all the water, at which point the temperatures spike considerably.

eta: to get rid of cotton fever considerably faster, have some Tylenol, asprin, or extra strength powders (Goodys or BC, cant remember which one has both), and a LARGE bottle or two of water on hand. At first symptoms of cotton fever, take them and start chugging water. Motrin or naproxen (Aleve) do NOT work to eliminate cotton fever.

Yeah, I learn't long ago washes just ain't worth it.. And I can be a pretty desperate type of user.. But don't save your cottons or anything else left-over from a mix, it's just asking for trouble. Don't get me wrong, if it mean't actually getting high - I take a fair risk, but washes don't get you high. There's sweet fuck all of anything left in a wash, if you did your shot properly.

From what I understand of OP.. he's saving the left-over pill-binder powder that didn't dissolve and then later forcing it to dissolve (on its own) and banging that. Sounds like a bad move.

I don´t mean to disrespect or diminish your bad experience with cotton fever. How does that happen?
I´ve used it and every time I did I never thought it was a thing to worry about.
Ignorance may lead you to be quite stupid, reason for which I wonder how some of the bad stuff happened to me.

I never mainlined Opana, but after a car accident a pill-slingin' doc who was friends with my dealer had me on 30mg ER x 2 per day and 10mg IR* x 2 perday.

The only thing I can say is it took about 11 months for me to ruin my life in every conceivable way. Oxymorphone is a whole 'nother level of scary addiction. Fuck cotton fever, stop using that Opana shit. It's the devil.
