Hi all,
I'm in chronic pain & prescribed Opana ER. I was on OxyContin, until the change in formulas, & the new formula (OP) didn't work at all for the pain I'm in. I was switched to Opana ER, at a much higher dosage. These haven't done much at all until I had what seemed to be an intestinal blockage.
When I went in for an upper GI series w/ double contrast (sodium bicarb crystals in water with barium swallow) , I was higher than a kite later in the day. I tried sodium bicarb at home a few days later, then a few more times after that (I used less than was used in the study) and the Opana ER worked! Any idea as to why?
I clearly had/have some intestinal problems & throwing up for 3-4 weeks was VERY acidic before this. I'd gotten the blockage cleared up before the study.
I had tingling in my hands, arms & face a few days after I had the test, and needed to sleep it off.
I'm curious as to why this medicine works when I take sodium bicarb & it doesn't (or at least not very well) when I don't. I'm not looking to get high. I just want the pain under control & safely. Any ideas as to how to dose this & is it safe? I would think so, as the doctor that ordered the test knows what I'm taking & how much. I don't want an accidental overdose trying to control the pain I'm in.
Any chemists in the house that can explain this?
Please PM me if you have an answer!
Thanks!
