Opioids Opana ER not working, help diagnose the issue please

Okay - so tolerance is at about 400mg of Oxycontin per 24 hours coming into this - although this will produce some nods.

So then prescribed OPANA ER.

Then eats about 120mg OPANA ER directly from the pharmacy. There is no nod, no opiate feeling whatsoever. NONE.

Instead feels like a seizure is about to happen, very spacy anxiety feeling, unpleasant, vertigo, NO NOD or feeling of opiate intoxication.

the equivalent of that - 240mg Oxycontin will produce a serious NOD and pleasant energetic high.

What is WRONG? Did the pharmacy give expired pills? Is there a metabolism problem?

OPANA is supposed to be so close to OXYCONTIN - this is BIZZARRO!

Does OPANA just not work for some people? Is there a reason OPANA is not working? Have taken up to 200mg OPANA now and it is almost like taking a handful of PROZAC. Anxiety, Vertigo, maybe a very VAGUE feeling of opiate intoxication when a ton is taken.

Have been trying to get this forever on account of RAVE reviews but this is shitty garbage. OPANA keeps me from getting any withdrawal but that is about it!

EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED. There is almost no "HIGH" with this medicine.

Morphine ER is better taken orally!!

Thoughts? What could be the problem here? Should a person get a refill on the off chance pills were bad/old/exposed to heat or cold and the refill from another pharamcy will be better?

Do some people's bodies just break down all the OPANA? Need some help here....

I think all we can do is speculate so this might not stay open... We'll see what kind of responses we get.

Pharmacies are very careful with storage so I doubt that's the issue and opioids don't quickly breakdown, to lose that much potency would take like a century.

Do a pill ID (elsewhere) to make sure your pills are legit (again, NOT here, we don't ID pills) and perhaps call the pharmacy.
 
Have a friend who got Opana, dont remember dose, but I got a few from her, removed the time release, and... NOTHIN. Now you must also take into consideration I was on suboxone at the time, but had waited prob abt 36 hrs before taking the Opana.
 
Its a crime to take Opana orally IMO, though I do understand those who do try it that way. Opana has a 10% BA when taken orally. Orally opana is considered to be two times the strength of oxycodone mg to mg, but most people are disappointed with Opana when taken orally even when using an equivalent dose, sort of the same sort of result that some have with hydromorphone orally. Funny considering both are two of the major power opiates. Opana should be railed, banged, or Ive seen some success when plugged. I would crush them and snort them, but you must consider that Opana is about 4 to 6 times the strength of oxycodone when taken that way, and which takes getting used to since they are an anti-abuse pill which will plug the nose some. If taking your pills orally is your thing, I would go back to oxycodone for sure.


Id be surprised if there has even been more than five rave reviews of Opana taken orally, if one, I think most people know thats its weak point.

Opana orally is awful. Insufflate that shit and get high as hell. Start at 20mg and work your way up. 40mg should have you feeling awesome.

This right here pretty much hit it on the head. From my experience, and others that I know.. Opana is pretty useless orally. It'll keep you out of withdrawals, but it won't get you high.

Crush one up and sniff it.

Eating these is terrible.

Snorting I guess would be okay but the ingrediaents list contains sylica which I do not think is too good for your lungs.

I mean you could snort one and be fine but it is not something you would want to do daily right?

Also - any thoughts on taking the coating off and letting the thing just dissolve in your mouth?

I know this has worked with Morphine SR - just peel the coating off and let it dissolve under your tongue and wake up to drool all over the place.

I am cautious with these 40mg Opana as it is supposed to be 10x the strength of Morphine which means 400mg equivalent and I don't want to nuke myself if I have already been eating other medicines.

Anyway thoughts on snorting? I never do this. I just don't think it is good for the lungs - anyone know of someone who has snorted Opana for a year with no ill effects?

Any thoughts on removing the coating and treating it as a lozenge?
 
Opana ER uses TimerX.
Thus the time release matrix is throughout the whole pill.
Removing the coating has nothing to do with the time release.
Taking it under the tongue is not going to be anymore effective than taking it orally.
Nikolai's post is on the money.
Snorting is basically one of the easier methods to getting a decent effect from them.
TimerX is a beast of a time release mechanism & defeating it is not really feasible in most circumstances.
Sorry I don't have more time to give you more in depth info but there is a good amount of info on Oxymorphone in other threads.
