One Nation II — July 3rd — The Manhattan Center, NYC

Ughhhhhh well kiddies its 2:23 am on Friday morning and I just got home not too long ago.
Yes the squeakers went to BOTH parties. I will have to say I was very very dissapointed with the main floor although RITM was great. I never saw a live performance before and boy let me tell ya what a performance. I looved the chinese dragon thingie dancing across the stage and his visuals werent just visuals but they like stated before actually told a story.
I would like to say hi and a big thanks tokasper for giving me a ride, and buzzy, and chrissy for letting me crash at your place. I got the sleep that was very much needed.
I enjoyed myself at the free beach party though :)
I also got to meet a few new BL'ers... maui2k, gemini13, scary raver sorry if I forgot someone drinking/partying two days straight does that to a person.
Well see ya all at the next big meetup I have a waterbed calling my name right now :)

Well, i am indifferent.
Didn't have to wait long in line... was one of the first ones in there actually. Saw Glowworm and Speekah Phreekah right off the bat, and one more person who's name i cant remember (i'm sorry!). Bam Bam's set was OFF THE HOOK! wish i would have caught a "Do you like it hard?" shirt, my friend jeremy did, that bastard ;) Christopher Lawrence was even better than the last time i saw him, the time where i dubbed him "my new favorite dj". his face, when he looked at the crowd and smiled and raised his hands was just FANATICAL. i love a dj that loves his crowd. Skylab 2000 what a performance!! i was disappointed for the first time at Exodus 3 with Skylab's performance, this made up for it a thousand times! he had SO MUCH energy, he was just rockin' it up there. and that performance was one of the best. danny caught a CD. 2 thumbs up on that one. Spacegirl... i've seen her so many times and was blown away every time, but this time... was it just me? i was overly impressed. big disappointment. and it was the first time danny ever saw her, he wasn't impressed either. what's up with that sg? anyways... Rabbit in the Moon. O.M.G.! first of all, the guy i met outside at the table selling shirts and cd's, and we talked to him for awhile.. he gave me a Floori.D.A. cd since i love that song so much. the show itself was one of the msot amazing things i've ever seen! i was right up against the stage, and the crowd, heat, and excitement was so INTENSE that i literally passed out in the midst of it. i was floored by their performance. I MUST HAVE THAT SONG... WISH YOU WERE HERE... if anyone knows where the hell i can get it, let me know! i'd be forever grateful! (i dont really know if that's what its called. or the last song they did... anyone know the name?)
A BAD THING HAPPENED!!! i bought a camera that i DIDNT KNOW was a "trial size" and only had 15 exposures, and i didnt get any pics of RITM!!! If anyone got a few good pics of RITM's performance, i am willing to send you MONEY for doubles, i will pay you for the doubles, for shipping, and a little extra just for being nice enough to do it for me!! PLEASE SOMEONE!! email me at [email protected]
i must say this much.... a damper was put on my entire night BECUASE OF PEOPLE SMOKING DUST!!! i had such a migraine that i was actually sick to my stomach, and my head hurt so bad that i literally couldnt even enjoy myself. i was almost in tears, and every time it started to subside, i would walk through a new cloud of it. UGH! i was sober too and that damn dust just totally ruined my party experience, i was so wanting to dance and all it made me want to do was sit down with my head in my hands. Plus for some reason i was sooooo tired. we actually left right after RITM. but it was still worth the $40, IMO.
I got to see Gmni13, Kasper, Edoky, Trixxie, Squeakers, Mr. Jamal, and a few others again too but how did i miss buzzy, chrissy, BKR, and the rest of you??? YOU DIDNT GO TO THE MEETUP THATS WHY!! ;) its all good, i was hoping to run into you all though.
the venue was awesome. i had a good time. i was impressed with SOE, once again. they done good ;) and i got a pic with hottie Bam Bam to cap off my night. the hallucinagin glasses for RITM was my favorite. 2 thumbs up for this party.
SOMEONE PLEASE GET BACK TO ME ABOUT RITM PICS!! i'll post the rest of my pics from the party tomorrow.

with all the downers that this party brought with it, i still managed to have an awesome time.
teddy, sara, and i got there just b4 the doors were opening, and were there for the full 10 hours or something. in my opinion the party took a long time to get started, they were still doing the sound check inside. but as soon as it got started the music in my opinion was awesome.
skylab: amazing set, bangin the entire time
christopher lawrence: i'm not all that into trance anymore but his set was awesome, hard and driving the way it's supposed to be
ritm: i didn't even try and dance, the main floor was mobbed, so i went into the balcony and saved my strength for later sets to come. this was also where decided to explore, the side room at this point wasn't packed, and there was some nice house.
krs one: wtf, the most horrible, vile crap i had to sit through ever, thought i could explore some other rooms during that crap of a set but the dnb room was an oven, and the side room was mobbed. so me and teddy did the only thing we could, sit down and make fun!!! and did he really need that many people to shout out too, i think the only person he left out was my mother, and mosh pits?!
misstress barbara: damn, bangin bangin and more bangin, loved every minute of her set, unhealthy obsession yes. that was the nastiest set i've heard her spin yet, kicked her set's ass at boo. i was definitely in no party mood when she came on, but from beginning to end i was in pure heaven, ok enough going off on misstress barbara
well the venue itself was amazing, how'd they paint the ceiling? is what i want to know. it was a shame we trashed the place, it isn't the asylum, but i guess that happens a lot there.
no for the downsides, if you wanted to dance on the main floor forget it, the minute you'd start you'd get some kid waving a glowstick in front of his face bumping into you and not apologizing. i have no problem with people doing drugs, i do have problems with people going overboard and becoming zombies and destroying my good time. krs one sucked again, just thought i'd add that one more time. the cops outside, they were cool at boo, but they were assholes last night, wtf, there was no traffic at the time, i didn't see why we couldn't even talk or have a cigarette, grr.
ok, now for shoutouts,
old faces: teddy and sara, can't have fun without you guys, misstress barbara proved to be amazing as usual. steve, chillin as usual, wish i had a car, ortherwise i woulda drove you home jamal, wish you could have gotten there sooner ;) . connel, girls bathroom? we've gotta talk man
new faces: (if i forget put someone in, it's cuz i'm horrible with names) edokey, chillin kid, glad to see you share the same obsession with misstress barbara as i do
e-girl, nice meetin ya, if you dont mind me sayin, you're a cutie
freddie d, fire escape, and others, is it just me, or is everyone from stamford
all right kids i'm outta here, just woke up from a 15 hour nap and i need to get outta my 'rents place, peace
Kevin

E GIRL
i have digital pics of ritm, ill upload small versions of them soon.... if you want the full sizes to print them, ill send them to you :)

Well...to start off SOE should have told everyone that the Grand Ballroom wasnt goin to be used...cause that made alot of junglists very angry. Not only that the soundsystem they used downstairs sucked...i was able to have a normal conversation down there no probs. As for the upstairs, i had a good time up there. RITM was sick...i just wish Monk was there so we could have gotten the whole effect. And Mistress Barbara was siiiick...but the fact that KRS-One took like an hour giving props to everyone she got cut short. Never ever stick a performance like them on the main stage again. I may have my complaints but i must say i had a good time overall.
Freddie D, Teddy, Sara, Kev, Tiago, Sugafist, the Stamford Crew, and everyone else i saw (sorry i just dont want to make a long list) its always a pleasure partying with you guys. And i didnt get to really bust out my stix at all cause there were just too many people. Next party though.
As for the afterparty...sorry i didnt talk to much. I was kinda lost in my own world. :) Hehehe. But thanks to the Stamford crew for letting us chill for a bit. You were all mad cool. Well i gotta get back to work. Peace!!!

It's called Out of Body Experience (OBE). I'm not too sure what mix was being spun last night. It was particularly hot, though, I must admit. The last song I'm listening to right now, but I don't know the track name. Sorry.

chrissy... i luv you. you are the greatest. when you have them uploaded, email me [email protected]
erik... thank you! and find out the name of the song you are listening to!

all in all... I had a pretty good time at this! Got there at 8 and left about 5. If ya saw me... I was wearin a blue enyce tshirt. I saw a few PPL that I partied with at Groove Attack! Nice seein ya again! :) I thought Chris Lawrence, Spacegirl and RITM made the whole thing worth while. I'm glad Im not the ONLY who thinks the party died wit all that hip-hop on the main stage.... the rappin was ok... but they jus TALKED more than they rapped! That when I just went to the upstairs room. I don't who the DJ was... he looked REAL funky... but he was spinnin some BAD ASS breaks!!! And there were kids doin moves that woulda made my head hurt bad! I got a few pix! I hung out there till I left. When I got outside... the cops were jus breaking up a fight. I got handed TONS o flyers. But at that point... I couldnt read no madda how hard I tried. I couldnt find any afterparties in the New Yorker. So... I dropped some ativans, drank, and slept. It was a nice way to end it :)

did anyone else think that when the breakers came on, the music was INSANELY TOO LOUD? i had to leave the room, my head hurt that bad.
maybe it was just me.

the video cams i saw were party kids not press...
Egirl.. i have pics too.. i was in the front of the stage for ritm and krs-one.. but i ran outta flim ACk... so i will send u what i did get as soon as i pick em up in an hour. :)
sorry i still havent posted mythoughts.. but i am depressed.. my cat's in the hospital :'(

^I thought the breakers were REALLY good, was that the rocksteady crew? I have no clue, and the breakers that came out during krs' set were amazing but i bet half of you guys were too busy complaining about the fact that hip hop was at a rave and there has to be techno all night long! at one point two guys were breaking and one took the other, put him on top of his head and started spinning him and then let him spin by himself on top of his head, no hands or nothing it was the sickest thing ever. at that point most of you were listening to the same 4/4 beats by then :P
And Dana, if you want to book some good hip hop acts that will rock the stage and get the people into the venue, get talib kweli, the roots, mos def, etc. or you can even get into the dancehall for the jungle room and book sean paul or beenieman or buju banton ;) it could work.

yeah i would have to say my favorite part of the whole RITM show was the Iron man mask thing. I would love to one day grind my face with a spark thing. :) That chick sure got some thrills though.

well the venue is top notch, just wish they would have had the upper room open for the jungle room, the room next to the bathrooms is not a good place to play music.
CL was awesome as usual.
KRS-1 has no place on the main stage at a rave of this sort. He was a huge downer for me. I was just laughing at all the people he had up there with him, i mean who does that????? lol
so to SOE, do not have a hip hop act on the main stage, if you want to have hip hop, give them a room of their own!!!!!
and the music should never stop, just go from one dj to the next with no interuptions, having spacegirl stop and that stupid hip hop act come on and then stop again for CL and then stop again for RITM and then stop again for KRS-1, and then stop again for mistress barbara, I hate that.
but overall I probably had as good a time as expected for a SOE event.
