Once and for all - taking benzos while on uppers and on comedoewn - bad or not?

I have been looking through many BL topics about this subject, and majority of people are saying that it is safe to take benzos while coming down from stims (or during). However, there is always some individual that says "it's bad for your heart, etc..."

For example I've been taking speed, and after I decided to comedown, I got anxiety, fast beating heart and all that... I took 20mg Valium to put me to sleep. Slept for few hours fine....

So after that I was texting my friend, told him I got few hours of sleep, but had to take 2 Valiums... He was like "no, not that man, that's bad for the heart, try to avoid that in future"...... and by the way he likes to drink alcohol while on speed etc. So, that is not bad, huh?

So I wanna know definitely is it safe to take benzos while on stims?

That's one of the worst drug myths, completely false as far as I'm concerned.

The main issue with mixing uppers and downers is if you've taken too much downers but don't realize because of the stimulant and then when the stimulant wears off you OD. This usually happens with "speedballs" when people take high doses of opiates (and possibly benzos too) to balance out the cocaine but since cocaine has a very short half-life it wears off first and you OD on opiates. I guess the opposite could also happen with short acting gabaergics like GHB and long lasting stimulants like methamphetamine.

Actually if you were to go to the hospital they'll probably give you benzos to treat the overstimulation.

The biggest issue is it just led me to use more of both. Id take benzos for racing heart then amphetamine for realizing i forgot to do a assignment due tommorow then benzos to fall asleep to get four hours of sleep then two amphetamine before class then i finish the test why not relax one benzo.

Basically all benzos did was give a sense of i dont need to be careful with amphetamine because when i felt like i was gunna panic i had a aport button. Which evently lead to amph and benzos all day everyday and mood swings i could only imagine what bipolar is like

My doctor has no problem with me taking adderal during the day and klonopin at the end of the day/to sleep.

benzos are great for comedown, but try not to use them too often as they lose their effectiveness and could eventually end up as necessary for you to go about your daily life - and that sucks.

Not to great of an idea. It's sort of like speedballing which people do differently but I used meth and h and the uppers make your heart beat quicker then slows with a downer. The alternating speeds can cause strain and in some cases heart attacks.

Yes but like anything in moderation. If you have a big night on stims on a Friday night once a week and on the following Saturday afternoon a good 12-16 hours after you first used your stim like speed or meth you take a low dose of valium i can't see how it would not be safe.

What would be unsafe would be loading up on speed on the friday night then trying to knock yourself out with a large dose of valium to sleep at 8am on the following Staurday so you could sleep until 6pm that night so that later that night you can load up on speed again for another night peaking followed by more valium the morning after that second night to again knock you out. This approach for using stims may seem smart because you are getting sleep while taken stims every night but multiple days on stims followed by benzos to avoid the comedown is setting you on the road to ruin for so many reasons.

OK I just read online that if you mix Diazepam and Amphetamines, there is a high risk for myocardial ischemia...... Totally not what I needed to read right now.....

Then how come in A&E they say they give Diazepam for people high on stims etc?

Did you get this from a 2007 research abstract? It is the only place I have seen this potential problem put forward and it has not been highlighted since. Many folk (including myself) often use diazepam among other benzodiazepines in the manner discussed in this thread and IMO the most acute risk is from overdoing one of the combined drugs due to the counteraction of the other.
