I think a huge problem with people trying to abuse wild dagga is that since it is often compared with cannabis, people are compelled to smoke it. This, as many know, is often very unpleasant as the plant is putrid tasting, and is very sticky and tarry when burned (especially the leaves). I happen to have access to a small (for wild dagga atleast, still fairly sizeable as a plant) wild dagga plant. Knowing the unpleasant of the smoke, and hearing that often no effects were felt even after inhaling the disgusting smoke. I decided that trying the wild dagga was worth a shot, but I did not want to smoke this particular, random plant. I read on wikipedia that wild dagga is often made into a tea, and also that leonurine, the supposed active constituent of wild dagga is soluble in water. So, of course I decided to make a tea. Unfortunately, the flowers had not "bloomed" yet (bloomed is an inaccurate word for the way that wild dagga sprouts its flower pedals individually). I decided to take off a sizeable branch from the plant, knowing that the leaves are also somewhat active. I pulled all the leaves off, and decided to leave the stem in the pile of plant matter, albeit, cut into little pieces. I poured a small amount of water into a pot, just enough so the leaves could comfortably sit in the pot in the water and not burn. However, do not put in the plant matter, this comes later. The important part is to only use as little water as possible. I used about 6oz of water, possibly a bit more. I waited until the water was at a comfortable boil, then quickly poured in the plant matter, before too much water boiled off. The water will probably stop boiling when you pour in the plant matter. Now you sit and stir until the leaves start getting darker, and the water starts to boil a tiny bit again. BTW its gonna start to smell pretty strongly of dagga, you wanna hit the spot where the smell sticks around for a bit unless you microwave a hotdog and open the window, but doesn't stick around for longer than that. If that is too obscure, then just stir it for 1.5-2.5 minutes (depending on how hot you are heating the pot, I recommend low heat, longer stirring.) after you have poured in the dagga. and stir it damn good and press the leaves and shit get that delicious leonurine out of those leaves. Now, stop the stove, take a strainer or sieve or whatever and just seperate the leaves from the water. Make sure you keep all the water, its the good stuff dont drain it like you would with pasta those leaves are useless. Now, you pour that water from whatever device you put it in into a bottle of some sort. If it is still hot I highly recommend a glass bottle. Now, let that cool off but put a cap on it so the stuff doesnt evaporate out.
TLDR get a branch from a dagga plant, break it up, then cook it like you would trader joe's chinese noodles (almost exact same method, just take it out a little bit sooner after you have put it in the boiling water. noodles = 3 minutes, this = 1.5 to 2.5 minutes)
Now, for what you were probably looking for, I use the cap of a 12 oz coke bottle, but you can of course you might use something of similar size. This of course relies on the fact that you used the same proportions: 6oz of water, slightly less plant matter (one 2-3 foot branch from the dagga plant)
For beginners (no tolerance for dagga) I recommend just 1/2 of the cap. If you really want to see how nice dagga is, you can take the whole cap, but you will be very euphoric and somewhat intoxicated.
1/4 to 1/2 of the cap will give you a nice calming euphoric feeling without much load on your mindspace and thinking, a full cap is getting close to minor intoxication.
Of course tolerance is a thing with dagga, I currently take 2 caps to feel what might be a full cap to a beginner.
Its very, very pleasant. Almost entirely mild to moderate euphoria with an occasional pleasant headrush sort of thing.
I know none of this is very scientific but thats just how I prepared the mixture, and I haven't run out quite yet so I haven't had a chance to do a real analysis of the steps. This should work nonetheless.
