Recovery Old School Medication Adjustments V.S. New age don't Sedate the Patient.

You know... Back in the day when I was admitted to a Psych-Ward they would dope you up so you would get the relief you need. But nowadays they hardly give you any Medication to keep yourself Calm when your in the Psych-Ward. I'm just so fed up with Psych-Wards that hardly sedate you anymore. And because of this a lot of Patients are out of their mind. Plus you don't get the relief you need from the Medication that you need to take Yourself. Why don't these New-Age Psychiatrist Sedate you like they use to ? I'm just so fed up with the whole thing. I'm just so Overstimulated and I need to relax a lot more and feel less Paranoid. What are your thoughts on this ?

I didn't know this was going on. Maybe there is still stigma with the lobotomy, and 1st generation antipsychotics that cause tremors.

I'd think that they can just give you a shitload of newer ones? For example, back in 2017 a buddy (met him in the unit) was taking 1800 mg of seroquel. Yeah, eighteen hundred. I'd never heard of anything about 800. He would take 2 mini water cups full of Seroquel at night to kill his mania. He'd be punching himself in the legs afterward so that they didn't go numb.

I don't know enough about pharmacology, maybe someone else does.

I know about Pharmacology. Quetiapines maximum dose is 800mg per day. Taken once at bedtime or in divided doses. It's more of a Sedative than an Antipsychotic. It effects the H1 histamine receptors more than the D2 and 5-HT2A receptors which make it more sedating and less effective than most Antipsychotics. The best Atypical Antipsychotic is Clozapine. Clozapines dosage is typically 400mg. at Bedtime, 100mg in the morning and 100mg. at Noon. Clozapines starting dose is either 12.5mg or 25mg. that's titrated up these dosages. Clozapine is not to exceed 900mg. per day. Another good Antipsychotic is Chlorpromazine. Chlorpromazines starting dose is 25mg. to 50mg. Which is titrated up to 200mg. 4 times a day. And in case of emergency a combination of Lorazepam 2mg. along with Haloperidol 5mg. is given to a Patient that's out of control and acting aggressively. So, if you really wanted to treat a Patient. You would give them Clozapine 100mg. Morning, Clozapine 100mg. Noon and Clozapine 400mg. Bedtime. Along with Chlorpromazine 200mg. 4 times a day and a PRN of Lorazepam 2mg. plus a PRN of Haloperidol 5mg.

p.s. An EKG should be required to rule out QT prolongations that can sometimes happen at effective Dosages.
