Remember the old front page of Erowid? I thought it was so much cooler than the new one. The newer page, in my opinion, doesn't give the site the same feel it used to have...

...*sigh* 8) ...the past is usually better

The old one:

What do you guys think?

Maybe this can be turned into a poll.

I think the information is the same...but it did give much more of a "vault" motif to it...I still remember the first time I found Erowid, I felt like I had found hidden treasure. Ah, to be young and adventerous...

^ haha me too about the treasure part. i was young and in high school and i felt like the smartest motherfucker in the world after 2 weeks of reading erowid

...then i found bluelight. where everyone feels the same way..hahaaha

Elitist site? How fucking strage is that...

I think they're a super informative and useful site that people who would prefer to know precisely what they're dealing with. It's not like you have to prove yourself before you're allowed access to the information... Maybe you were joking and the damn internet put a veil in front of the sarcasm.

Either way, Erowid is a great site. I wish I'd known about it years ago. I've only known about it the last 6 months or so.

i dont get it, it simply means to get to your info, you skip the main page

the old one implies that people actually go on there for the "mind and spirit" and "arts and culture" aspects (maybe they do??)

the new one is more obvious about its intentions as an information site for drugs

i think it's good they changed because the new one gives a more neutral first impression to people visiting

if you want to inform people who are not familiar with drugs, it's better not to scare them right away with a photo of someone palpating the air

Haha, right what I was thinking.

Me and my buddy used to call kids "Erowid Druggies" when refering to kids in highschool who apparently knew about every chemical known to man but weren't past the sprinkling crushed vicodin on weed stage.

The old one was artistic - a very cool, beautiful, creative piece of art - the new one is just, well, the front page of an internet website :(

Well guys, you gotta admit that Erowid used to be the primary source of information when it came to these things. And now it's kinda taken a back seat... even though we are forever sending people there to read up on shit, it's just not the staple it once was. So in their defense, I can see why they are making changes, and trying to re-invent the wheel, so to speak.

Erowid is was and will always be the most important drug library on teh interwebs (series of tubes). I don't care what they do to their site. I owe them so much as far as education is concerned.

Still going strong after all these years... keep up the good work, o master elementals that run the site! ;)

i still love erowid. and recently, it seems that they've been upgrading more and more, linking to more news articles on drugs. there are a lot of holes in the vaults, but they still stand as a great source of information.

if it weren't for erowid, i may have never gotten past just smoking marijuana.
It's kind of a bummer I found bluelight as late as I did (better late than never, no?) because it would have really helped during the many times i didn't know what i was doing.

Am I the only one who still gets the same ol' front page? Maybe they changed it back?
