I want to take my EZ tester with me from Australia to the UK, but as many of you have probably heard, corrosives are not allowed to be carried on the aircraft. Carry on baggage or in your luggage.
Ive also found on the Qantas web site some information regarding carying corosive materials as long long as they are packaged correctly: http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying/beforeYouTravel/dangerousGoods
AND then... I found within the FAQ section on the EZ test ordering page this information below:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: Is it legal to send EZ Test in the mail ?
A: Yes, according to US and EU postal laws, EZ Test reagents are classified as "class 8 corrosive materials". In both (US and EU) postal laws there is a so-called "small quantities exception" for mailing class 8 corrosive materials. This means that we are allowed to send EZ Test by mail. Also, EZ Test does not contain illegal or controlled substances. We currently sell EZ Test to many DIFFERENT countries without problems, for us or our customers. Because EZ Test does not contain anything illegal, it is no problem to im- or export them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I guess this now leads me to believe that it may be okay after all to carry a tiny 10 mls of the stuff - right? Heh... I dont know, I cant seem to get a strait answer!
There is also another website which apparently has information regarding transporting dangerous goods, but I have been unable to get to it. Server may be down at the moment. For all those interested, here is the site: http://www.iata.org/dangerousgoods/faq/
Is there anyone that actually know's for a fact if its a definat no no to carry the EZ tester or or it is okay provided particular percautionary measures are met?
