Is it wrong if I just did both? In all seriousness though...
As far as candy is concerned....I could care less....to each his/her own. Personally, *I* don't like it, but I always kinda understood that was one of the points of the rave scene....to be as ridiculous (or not) as you want.
I have to agree with Patrick on one thing, though...
Patrick Bateman said:i'm sure there are plenty of kandi-tards that hold good jobs/get good grades/love jesus, etc. but that doesn't change the fact that they look fucking ridiculous. many times have i been caught on camera, etc. looking like a moron and guess what? i dealt with it and didn't cry "why are you making fun of me!? what gives you the right!?"...simply because i can admit when i've been caught red-handed making an ass out of myself.
I just won't put it so harshly...I went through the candy phase too....there are pictures of me out there covered in candy bracelets and little plastic hearts and stars on my visors....thankfully that phase didn't last long, because (in my opinion) I did look ridiculous. For me and the kids I ran around with, it was the point. A point that eventually needed to be put to bed when I was done with it. But if anyone is able to find and ressurect those pictures...more power to you. I will probably get as big of a laugh out of them as you will....seriously.
Some people like to get all candied up and head out for a rave, and that's okay...but when conventional society, or those that are over that phase, or never got into it say derrogatory things about it, you can't be so sensitive when they call you out for looking ridiculous.....because in THEIR eyes, candy kids DO look ridiculous. Personally, I enjoy candy crews coming to our parties....I don't judge and what someone wants to do while at a party I think is their business, and it diversifies the crowd. But if I saw someone dressing like that at say, the grocery store, or the mall, or in a professional office environment or whatever.....then in my head I have to seriously think to myself....."What's wrong with this picture?" There are three candy kids I know of at my work, but you would NEVER know it at work because they know it is not appropriate outside of a rave environment.
There is a time and place for everything. Not everyone will always like or understand everything someone else does....sometimes you have to take things with a grain of salt and just go on about your business. Do I think it's my place to tell someone they should or shouldn't be doing something? Nah....cause people will do what they want anyway, and come to their own realizations in their own time. When they are ready to put things away, they will....in the meantime, if they have fun with it....go right ahead...it ain't hurtin me none.
