:p you guys bicker a lot.

the bar will be a nice addition. the keg at CD hit the spot. expect at least 4 in attendance. =D

And the claims about this venue are accurate. Please, no smoke bombs. Still got green boogers... that shit toxic or anything?

just the memories that this venue will stir in your head is worth $20.

This is true.

might be the first time I'll be @ this venue without having to bare trainwrecks...

noice. =D

My point is not referenced to me necessarily. I'm old enough and make enough money to live quite decently, so money for the show and to get their is not an issue as to whether I would go or not(and right now I would say more then likely I would attend this despite my utter hatred for Racistinatti). I'm more speaking to the fact that lowering the prices 5 bucks across the board would probably get you more heads, and might offset the cost of losing that income. Or you could offer some limited pre-sales for $15 dollars, which I would be inclined to buy. I don't care too much about Frankie Bones, despite his well-deserved legend status, but Danny the Wildchild and the strength of the local D.J.'s in Indy and Cincy make it quite a good cross-state line-up. I'm not dissing your party, I just think(and others here apparently agree) that the price is a little high.

everybody agrees that seemingly high prices are exaggerated based on the consumers opinion. EVERYBODY is fickle even those, like you, who are older and "make enough money". sad, but true, that cash rules everything around us and unfortunately for consumers like you and i inflation is a fucking bitch. i know i personally bitch about high prices for everyday necessities (gas, cigs, beer, etc.) but then i think about the fact that as prices for raw materials, labor, etc go up so do prices. realistically do the math:

1.booking fees
2. flyer printing/design costs
3. hotel/flight accomodations
4. sound
5. security
6. leasing/renting venue
7. intelligent lighting

and those are about as basic it gets...i'm not stating anything new or being condescending. it's just a reiteration of some basic aspects that people sometimes forget when their hard earned dollars are required to have a good time ;) there are so many other facets of planning a party like this in the midwest. this isn't electric daisy carnival or some west coast massive...this is a party in an area pretty much decimated by the fuzz/local govts. as far as throwing a party is concerned. so...yeah, lowering any consumer item by 25% is considered a good value...last i checked there isn't a double coupon ad in the paper for discounted rave partiy bargains..

I agree with your basic points, I think my whole point boils down to this: I think the party is slightly overpriced. Nothing wrong with that, I've been to overpriced parties before, sometimes I've had a better time then I thought I would, sometimes it wasn't worth the effort. It's a good line-up, from what I've seen online it looks like a dope venue, and I imagine if the promoters get on the ball and plastered the internet with it they could possibly break even or slightly better, which is about the best you can hope for in this area given the current state of affairs.

Is this going to turn into a 10-pager about the price of the event?

*yawn*

If it's too much, don't go. Whining about it in the thread won't accomplish anything.

You mean it won't? I've obviously made a serious miscalculation here. Damnit:X

I think that the price is fine considering the line-up... and will def. be worth it.

the only thing thats missing is some sort of canned food / clothing drive or something. if you all need help with something like that, I work with a charity (Music Cures All) that would definetly appreciate the donations.

you know, at this point, if anyone is shocked/tired/sick of/whatever the mere potentiality of any thread/fred/t'read turning into any sort/combination of bickering/questioning/righteous indignation/aspersions casting of any kind, then really, bluelight is not for you.

at least, not midwest events.

maybe words or music/djs is more the proper speed.

i mean, really.

of course, unless people like bitching about bitching; then by all means, bitch away. whom am i to stop one?

we all know 'if you don't want to go, don't go'

we all know the option of going or not going rests solely on our own shoulders.

it's just as pointless to try and stop discussion because the topic of the discussion isn't to one's liking, especially when people's opinions on the subject change with whomever's throwing and/or closely associated to the event.

i've said my piece, wilhelm has countered with his reasonings.

everyone has the right to express an opinion on the matter.

this isn't eRussia.

save them.

pretty soon the bees will no longer be around

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE BEES!!!!

looks like a good party. Frankie Bones album Technolo-G is the shiiiet. Like to see him rock out some of that shit.

it is all good.

bicker onward. it is entertaining.

You guys should put on the flyer at the bottom somewhere, "no smokebombs cuz they suck." and at the door.

So then people will know smokebombs suck and then not bring them.

Bees? wtf? :p

pass

What the fuck am I supposed to do with all these potatoes and vodka?

Here's an idea:

Vodka White Beam & Roast Garlic Soup
Ingredients
Serves 4
1 1/2 cups dried or canned white beans (haricot or navy)
1 bay leaf
1 fresh thyme sprig
Salt and freshly ground white pepper
4 very large firm red tomatoes
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
8 slices bacon
20 garlic cloves, peeled
1 cup potatoes, peeled and finely chopped
1 cup white onions, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups Vodka Chicken Broth (see recipe below) or stock
1 tablespoon Basil Vodka (see recipe below) or 2 tablespoons freshly chopped basil
1/2 cup vodka
4 tablespoons cream

1. Soak the dried beans in cold water for 8-10 hours. Drain and rinse. If using canned beans, drain and rinse before cooking.

2. Place the beans in a medium pot with enough water to cover by about 2 inches. Add the bay leaf and thyme and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat, cover and cook until the beans are tender, about 1 hour. Add 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon white pepper. Strain, remove and discard the bay leaf and thyme, and set aside.

3. Carefully cut off the tops of the tomatoes and hollow out to create a bowl (be sure not to make any holes in the sides of bottom of the tomatoes). Set aside.

4. Preheat the oven to 325F.

5. Heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in a large frying plan over a high heat and fry the bacon until crisp. Transfer the bacon to paper towels to absorb any excess grease. Then chop the slices finely and set aside.

6. Place the garlic in a small baking dish with a little of the remaining olive oil, cover with aluminum foil and bake until golden brown, about 35 minutes.

7. Meanwhile, add the potatoes and onions with the rest of the oil to the pan used to fry the bacon, reduce the heat to moderate and cook until tender, about 6-8 minutes. Add a pinch of salt and pepper and set aside.

8. Put the garlic (with any remaining oil), the potato/onion mixture and beans in a blender or food-processor with the broth, Basil Vodka and vodka and pulse until smooth.

9. Warm in a medium saucepan over moderate heat for 10 minutes or until hot. Swirl in the cream and season to taste with salt and white pepper.

10. Meanwhile place the tomatoes, cut-side down, on a sheet pan or in a roasting pan and roast for about 5-7 minutes, checking frequently as the tomatoes must remain firm.

11. To assemble, place each tomato in the center of a shallow bowl or soup plate. Fill the tomato with the soup and crumble bacon over the top.
