Now, after searching and searching and realising there are hundreds of places to download 'file swapping' programs eg: Napster, Kazaa etc but I cannot and have not been able to find any similar software for Mac.

Does anyone know if programs like the above are available for Mac? Kazzaa doesn't make their program for Mac, and as far as I could see no one else does either.

:)

Just wondrin if anyone knows different?

Edit: Just changed the title so the thread can stick around for everyone's use

Okay, a while ago I accidentally deleted my sound card software(I.E. PCI multimedia audio driver device =D ).
Anyway.
I recovered the software and 'installed' it but my computer fails to recognise that it's there.
I know u can nominate to assign certain software to certain drivers but I don't know where the driver software is.
I don't know if this makes much sense.
Anywaze.
I tried assigning an incorrect driver device to the sound card and it worked, but then when I rebooted it fucking deleted the software again.
Can anyone tell me what the fuck is goin' on?
It'd be a great help.
Thanks.
:)

^^^scan the folders of the "installed" correct software for *.inf

Then just go to Device Manager (via control panel>system on 2000/xp), right click on the current PCI sound device (should have an exclamation mark next to it if its not working) and select "update driver". Then navigate to the folder containing the .inf file and install

Another option is to remove the PCI soundcard (the nonfunctioning device you have atm) from Device Manager (see above), then reboot, then run the install.

scuse me if im unintentionally being cryptic... long long drunken friday, but one or both will work for sure. :)

^^^^^^
Thanks dude.
I've tried all those things before but eventually ripped apart my computer and found out what it was.
When I hit my keyboard it obviously caused a connection between my sound card and computer to be fucked.
God knows why my comp gave me some bullshit story about my software being fucked.
Oh well.
Thanks anywaze.
=D

Re: 1st post about Mac software.....

Yeah get Limewire...its been upgraded a few times now and is pretty useful.....not as good as Kazaa, but close....

Get this then. Whenever we hangup the phone it starts up the computer. And before you all jump in I've already disabled the startup phone thingo in the bios settings.

I have a solution, save up $500 for a second-hand PC. Then install Linux. ;)

mac is based on unix, all you need to do is install Apple X11 so you can run X-server based programs. then most linux programs can be installed if you have the right libraries.

if you DO do that, get nicotine. good soulseek clone for linux

HTML Composer/Editor Software

Aaah this seems like the best place to put this, I guess....

Can anyone recommend a good piece of software for designing and editing html files? Whilst MS FrontPage is has a great user interface (I can't deal with raw html code!), I'm starting to get sick of all the stupid, annoying habits it has, and I'm looking for some software as I have a major upgrade of a website to be done soon.

Any professional web designers out there? What do you use? (Assuming some of you still deal with html).

The only time I use professional editors is for initally setting up layers, even then they tend to be cumbersome. Almost all of the time is spent using an ordinary text editor, Notetab Pro is my current editor of choice.

well, i've got a question...

so my pc is getting slow to the point of pain, and i'm thinking the best way to fix things up in the short term is to get some new ram. however, i'll probably be upgrading other bits and pieces (well, lots, actually...thinking motherboard/cpu/video card) in the next six months or so too - just can't afford to do it yet. so, what i need to know is if i can buy 'new' ram (i've totally forgotten most of the terminology...whatever kind is *good*, whatever speed is *fast* ;)) and actually use it in my computer - at a reduced speed - for the moment.

right now i've got 256mb of ddr ram (133MHz i think...maybe 233 - if that makes a difference i can check), and ideally i'd just like to buy a new stick of 1gig to a) use for the next few months in this pc - though obviously it will only run at the 133 or 233 that mine is...if it's even possible - and b) use at its *actual* speed once i've upgraded my motherboard in cpu in a few months.

i hope that's all kinda clear, cheers :)

Yep brad you can, provided that your ram is actually DDR, then it would probably be 133Mhz x 2, or 266. But faster ram will run fine at those speeds.

Just make sure it is DDR and not SDRAM.
