OFFICIAL Break Beat MEGATHREAD

So you don't come from Fargo, and your town does have a scene, last time I checked. But how you can come down on Florida like you do is beyond comprehension. It just leads me to believe you don't have the foggiest, and are a really closed minded person. So I will not waste my time with you any longer. Peace.

i dont come down on florida, i come down on the breakbeat sound that has come to be called "florida breaks". Icey, baby anne, huda hudia, trashy, etc. use the same recycled samples, basslines, remixes of rock and pop tunes that they have used for the last what, 7-8 years? its utterly boring too me, and your whining isn't going to make you look cool or change my mind about it. Why do you even care so much about FL. Didn't you post in another thread you are from the Denver area?

although I appreciate all styles of electronica (hardcore being if'y), breakbeats move me the most! don't forget about dj fixx, dj hyper, simply jeff...mmmm...

yeah your probably right, people in florida don't know anything, that's why it's the most diverse happening scene in the united states. It's cause their ignorant. I won't argue that point with you. Your absolutely right. By the way, where is your scene?

Dude, seriously, some florida breaks and miami bass punters are pretty narrow-minded.

But ofcourse I give credit to Miami's trans-atlantic scene. And what Markus Schulz is doing is incredible. He is the Man of Miami. I can't make WMC this year though.

Btw people, www.progbreaks.com is growing! Although slow as fuck.

prog breaks are prety cool... but th eDjs who play them are generally wack. most of the time, i hear prog-break after prog-break... 11 tracks for one 72-minute mix. that music cannot stand up on itself on the dancefloor... it's got to be blended and tricked out.

why can't Djs learn to differentiate between a song and a track?

i should start a class.

People just getting into breakbeat always start off thinking that "Florida breaks" are where it's at. Sooner or later you get sick of the poor production value and stagnant sound and start looking for something a little more moving. There are more exciting things happening right now with "nu-skool breaks" than with any other style. So many different things are being done with the sound and it's being constantly taken into uncharted territory. I'm admittedly biased because I spin breaks but I do enjoy all different types of electronic music. As far as innovative producers go, right now there are arguably more producing quality breaks tracks than in any other genre.

couldnt agree more. by my opinion nu breaks are the most exciting thing right now. but still there are several types of d'n'b that give me the shivers.
aldough i am also a jazz enthusiast. i know, it seems like an odd combination but it goes together perfectly.
just to be shure that i am not missing anything, could you write some of your favourite nu skool artists

One Nation Forever

Yeah, i've been spinning breaks for about 10 years now. I was a south florida after hours dj for a few years before leaving because of... well lets just say a unhealthy lifestyle. Then moved to the high country of colorado where, guess what, I still spin breaks. While I've always bumped every genre under the sun, and more so with the house and trance since coming west. Breaks, old & nu, still get the most table time in my studio. I don't think that florida breaks are just for new breaks junkies, either you can bump your butt, or you can't. There is no middle ground.

Oh yeah, by the by. Hyper is bad fucking ass. I saw his set last year on the breaks stage at Ultra during the WMC. Junkie XL, Underworld, and Hybrids set were off the hook as well. Had to skip out early on the sasha and john set to catch Junkie XL on the BBC radio one stage, but it was worth it. I've seen sasha and john many times in FLA and CO.

i enjoy breaks too. preferibly progressive and atmospheric. but living in SE Asia right now, nu-skool, funk, or any other style of beats and breaks are almost non-existent.

it's all about prog breaks, nu/acid jazz, and latin beats etc. Dope shit.

Meat Katie
Nu breed (Aus outfit)
Scratch Perverts (fukken awesome!!!)

you know what the problem is? theres so much wicked breakbeat artists/Djs out there, i get a mental blank whenever i try and post some in here
